- Provide effective and effective administration of the medical laboratory
services.

- Provide advice to those requesting information about the choice of tests and the use of the laboratory services and the interpretation of laboratory data.

- Serve as an active member of the medical staff for the facilities served.

- Relate and function effectively with applicable accrediting and regulatory agencies, top management, the health care community, and the patient population served.

- Define, implement and monitor standards of the established QMS of the
medical laboratory services

- In coordination with laboratory director & HOD monitor the work performed in various sections to determine that reliable test results are being generated

- Participates in providing 24 hours call coverage for emergency consultations.

- Plans and works with the pathology staff, residents or visiting pathologists.

- Participates in providing 24 hours call coverage for emergency consultations.

- Reviewing the Quality indicators, daily QC.

- Ensuring appropriate EQA participation and analyzing the EQAS/ILC performance.





- Holds responsibility for release of departmental lab reports of all patients on established turnaround times.

- Ensures the release of urgent lab reports / provisional reports in best interest of patient care, as per established protocols of Ampath.

- Implement a safe laboratory environment in compliance with good laboratory practices and applicable regulations.

- Address any complaint request or suggestion from users of laboratory services.

- Training the technical staff & maintaining a high staff morale. Performing staff competency evaluations as per Ampath policy.

- Preparation and implementation department specific SOPs

- Maintain the Quality management system policies of AmPath.

- Provide educational programmes for the medical laboratory staff and participate in educational programmes of the institution.

- Maintains oversight of department specific inventories and material consumption; and raises requests for indent and issue of items as needful for lab function.
