As part of Walmart Global Tech, our team builds next-generation products and platforms to solve complex enterprise problems at Walmart scale. We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer who can provide technical leadership while remaining hands-on in designing and building scalable, reliable, and secure cloud-based solutions.

What Youll Do:

- Lead the architecture, design, and development of scalable enterprise applications and platforms .
- Provide technical direction for complex initiatives spanning multiple applications and engineering teams.
- Partner with Product, Business, and Engineering teams to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Drive architecture/design and code reviews , evaluating trade-offs across scalability, performance, security, and reliability.
- Design and build backend services using Java, Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs, and distributed system patterns , with React/Node.js for end-to-end solutions where needed.
- Build reusable frameworks, APIs, and platform capabilities that can be leveraged across teams.
- Drive engineering best practices around code quality, testing, security, observability, CI/CD, and operational excellence .
- Troubleshoot complex technical and production issues and drive long-term solutions.
- Mentor engineers and raise the engineering bar through design reviews, code reviews, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing.

What Youll Bring:

- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of software engineering experience building large-scale enterprise applications and distributed systems.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs, and distributed systems .
- Experience with React, TypeScript, Node.js and/or NestJS is preferred.




- Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, system design, and design patterns .
- Experience designing systems for scalability, high availability, resiliency, security, and performance .
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, GCP, or AWS , along with CI/CD, DevOps, logging, metrics, and observability.
- Experience with databases, data modeling, caching, and performance optimization.
- Strong technical leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to influence across teams.

Additional Experience

The following experience would be an added advantage:

- Experience designing and building ETL/ELT pipelines , including batch and real-time data processing solutions.
- Experience working with data lakes and data warehouses , including data modeling, schema design, partitioning, and query/performance optimization.
- Hands-on experience with workflow orchestration platforms such as Apache Airflow/Astronomer , including DAG development, scheduling, monitoring, and pipeline reliability.
- Experience building applications and APIs that integrate with large-scale enterprise data platforms .
- Working knowledge of Python and up-to-date data processing technologies.
- Exposure to Generative AI, LLM-based applications, RAG, information retrieval, or machine learning .
- Experience exploring and applying AI-assisted engineering and automation to improve developer productivity, software quality, and operational efficiency.
