What you'll do

- Own the front-end architecture and technical direction for one or more product surfaces, making pragmatic decisions on component design, state management, data fetching, and performance
- Design, build, and maintain production React applications with TypeScript, delivering interfaces that meet the quality bar of best-in-class fintech products
- Drive the evolution of our shared design system and component library, ensuring consistency, accessibility, and reuse across teams
- Translate complex data – reconciliation flows, pipeline health, operational metrics – into transparent, intuitive visualisations and workflows that empower non-technical users
- Champion front-end engineering standards: comprehensive testing, performance budgets, accessibility compliance, and clean, reviewable code
- Collaborate closely with product, design, and back-end engineering to shape requirements, prototype solutions, and ship iteratively
- Identify and solve unstructured problems – stepping outside your lane when the team needs it, whether that means improving CI/CD pipelines, fixing cross-cutting UX debt, or driving an RFC for a new front-end pattern
- Mentor and raise the bar for front-end engineers across the team, through code review, pairing, and technical leadership

What we're looking for

- 8+ years of professional experience building complex, production web applications, with deep expertise in React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript
- A self-driven personality with high ownership – you see problems through to resolution, communicate proactively, and thrive in ambiguity without waiting for detailed instructions
- Advanced knowledge of React patterns including hooks, context, concurrent features, server components,



and the trade-offs between common state management approaches (Redux, Zustand, Jotai, React Query)
- Strong command of modern CSS – CSS Modules, Tailwind, CSS-in-JS, or design-token-driven theming – with the ability to deliver pixel-perfect, responsive layouts
- Hands-on experience building or contributing to a design system or component library at scale (e.g. Storybook, Radix, Shadcn, or custom systems)
- Solid understanding of front-end performance optimisation – code splitting, lazy loading, bundle analysis, Core Web Vitals, and rendering strategies (SSR, SSG, ISR)
- Proficiency with modern front-end tooling: Vite or Webpack, ESLint, Prettier, testing frameworks (Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright or Cypress), and monorepo tooling (Nx, Turborepo)
- Experience with data visualisation libraries (D3.js, Recharts, Visx, or AG Grid) and building interactive, data-rich UIs for analytical or operational use cases
- Excellent communication skills – able to articulate technical trade-offs to designers, product managers, and senior stakeholders with equal clarity
- Experience with CI/CD for front-end applications, including automated testing, visual regression, and deployment pipelines

Nice to have

- Prior experience in fintech, banking, or another regulated, high-availability domain
- Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA) and assistive technology testing
- Exposure to micro-frontend architectures, module federation, or progressive web app (PWA) patterns
- Experience with GraphQL, WebSockets, or real-time streaming data in front-end applications
- Background in UX design or user research – comfort running usability reviews, contributing to design critiques, or prototyping in Figma
- Contributions to open-source front-end projects or a visible engineering presence (blog, talks, community)
