The role plays a critical part in safeguarding accounting compliance, supporting strategic transactions, maintaining solid governance, and ensuring the integrity of the Group's financial reporting.
Main responsibilities & duties:
- Act as the subject matter expert on IFRS, UK GAAP, and other applicable accounting frameworks.
- Develop, maintain, and communicate Group accounting policies and procedures.
- Monitor emerging accounting standards and regulatory developments, assessing impacts and driving implementation plans.
- Provide accounting guidance and training to finance teams across the Group.
- Support the preparation and review of Group annual and interim financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS, Companies Act requirements, and applicable regulatory obligations.
- Create relevant technical accounting papers supporting complex accounting judgements and estimates.
- Partner with the group reporting to ensure accurate and consistent financial disclosures.
- Provide technical accounting advice on significant business transactions including acquisitions and disposals, group restructures and strategic partnerships, in addition to, debt and equity financing arrangements, lease arrangements and impairment assessments.
- Prepare and review accounting position papers for Board, Audit Committee, and external auditor review.
- Support due diligence activities and post-acquisition accounting integration.
- Lead technical accounting discussions with external auditors and act as key contacts for stakeholders.
- Manage responses to complex accounting queries and audit challenges.
- Ensure all technical accounting documentation is audit-ready and appropriately governed.
Person Specification
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Professional certification such as CA, CMA, or equivalent.
- 10+ years of experience in Big 4 audit or accounting advisory background, in pharmaceuticals preferably
- Strong technical knowledge of accounting principles and practices including UK GAAP and IFRS.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.) and advanced MS Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven track record of being a proactive and engaged team player.
- Experience in leading or participating in finance transformation projects is highly desirable.
- Ability to adapt to change and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
