JOB DESCRIPTION FITTER (BEVERAGE PLANT)

Experience: 2–5 years in mechanical maintenance, preferably in a beverage, food processing, dairy, or bottling plant.

Role Overview

We are looking for a skilled Fitter to maintain and repair plant machinery, support smooth production, and reduce equipment downtime. The role requires practical experience in mechanical troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and protected working practices.

Key Responsibilities

- Inspect, maintain, and repair beverage production equipment, including filling, capping, labelling, and packing machines.
- Attend machinery breakdowns, identify mechanical faults, and carry out repairs to restore production promptly.
- Perform preventive maintenance as per schedule and record work completed.
- Fit, align, and replace bearings, shafts, seals, belts, chains, gears, and other mechanical components.
- Maintain pumps, valves, pipelines, conveyors, and gearboxes; identify and rectify leaks, abnormal noise, and vibration.
- Support machinery installation, alignment, commissioning, and changeovers for different bottle or packaging sizes.




- Read basic mechanical drawings and use measuring instruments to check dimensions, alignment, and fit.
- Coordinate with production and electrical maintenance teams during repairs and maintenance activities.
- Maintain tools, track critical spare requirements, and report worn or damaged parts before failure.
- Follow plant hygiene, food safety, PPE, and equipment isolation procedures during maintenance. Ensure machines are clean, guarded, and safe before handover.

Qualifications & Skills

- ITI in Fitter trade or an equivalent relevant technical qualification.
- Hands-on knowledge of mechanical fitting, assembly, dismantling, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, vernier callipers, and micrometers.
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance and lubrication practices.
- Basic welding and fabrication skills will be an added advantage.
- Willingness to work in shifts and attend urgent breakdowns when required.
