Job Overview

True Care Hospital invites applications for the position of Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon for its new hospital project in Manali, Himachal Pradesh.

The selected consultant will play a key role in establishing and developing the Orthopaedics department while providing comprehensive outpatient, inpatient, surgical and emergency care. We are seeking a skilled and compassionate professional with experience in independently managing fractures, orthopaedic trauma and common orthopaedic surgeries.

The consultant will work closely with anaesthesia, nursing and other clinical teams, with support from anaesthesia services and an emergency operating theatre.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide outpatient consultations, inpatient care and regular ward rounds for patients with musculoskeletal conditions.
- Diagnose and treat fractures, dislocations, ligament injuries, arthritis and other bone, joint and soft tissue conditions.
- Independently assess and manage orthopaedic trauma and emergencies, including initial stabilisation and surgical treatment where appropriate.
- Perform fracture reduction, casting, internal fixation and other orthopaedic procedures within clinical expertise and available hospital facilities.
- Assess patients for surgery,



explain treatment options and obtain informed consent.
- Provide postoperative care, monitor recovery and manage complications.
- Develop treatment and rehabilitation plans in coordination with physiotherapy services, where available.
- Counsel patients and families on recovery, mobility, injury prevention and follow-up care.
- Coordinate with anaesthesia, emergency and nursing teams to ensure safe and timely treatment.
- Participate in emergency duties and the hospitals on-call roster.
- Support the establishment of the department through clinical protocol development, service planning and recommendations for instruments, implants and equipment.
- Guide junior doctors and nursing staff in orthopaedic care and emergency management.
- Maintain accurate clinical records, operative notes and discharge summaries.
- Participate in clinical audits, case reviews and quality improvement activities.
- Arrange timely referral for patients requiring specialist care beyond the hospitals available services.

Required Qualifications and Experience

- MBBS with MS/DNB in Orthopaedics from a recognised institution.
- Valid registration with the relevant medical council.
- Demonstrated experience in independently managing fractures, orthopaedic trauma and emergencies.




- Competence in performing common orthopaedic surgeries, including fracture fixation.
- Experience in preoperative assessment, postoperative management and rehabilitation planning.
- Previous experience in a consultant role is preferred.
- Additional training or experience in joint replacement, arthroscopy or sports injuries would be an advantage.
- Experience in developing a clinical department or working in a newly established hospital would be an advantage.

- Annual CTC of 2030 lakh, depending on qualifications, experience and expertise.
