Job Summary

Spark Techwave InnovationZ Pvt Ltd is looking for a detail-oriented Medical Coder with experience in US healthcare medical coding.

The candidate will be responsible for reviewing medical records and clinical documentation and accurately assigning appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes in accordance with coding guidelines, payer requirements, and healthcare regulations.

Key Responsibilities

- Review patient medical records and clinical documentation for accurate coding.
- Assign appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes based on documentation.
- Ensure accurate coding of diagnoses, procedures, services, and medical conditions.
- Apply official coding guidelines and payer-specific requirements.
- Review documentation for completeness, accuracy, and medical necessity.
- Identify missing, unclear, or conflicting documentation and escalate queries when required.
- Ensure compliance with coding standards and healthcare regulations.
- Perform coding audits and quality checks as assigned.
- Maintain required accuracy and productivity levels.
- Identify coding errors and make appropriate corrections.
- Stay updated with changes to coding guidelines, codes, and healthcare regulations.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and healthcare information.
- Collaborate with physicians, clinical teams, auditors, and other healthcare professionals when required.
- Support internal quality assurance and compliance activities.

Required Skills

- 15 years of experience in US Medical Coding.
- Strong knowledge of:

- ICD-10-CM
- CPT
- HCPCS
- Medical terminology
- Human anatomy and physiology
- Diagnosis and procedure coding

- Understanding of US healthcare and medical coding processes.
- Knowledge of official coding guidelines.




- Ability to interpret clinical documentation accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain coding accuracy and productivity targets.

Valuable to Have

- CPC (Certified Professional Coder) certification.
- CCS or other recognized medical coding certification.
- Experience with specialty-specific coding such as:

- E&M;
- Surgery
- Emergency Medicine
- Radiology
- Anesthesia
- Cardiology
- Orthopedics
- Pathology

- Experience with HCC/Risk Adjustment coding.
- Knowledge of ICD-10-PCS.
- Experience with coding audits and quality assurance.
- Knowledge of medical coding software and EHR/EMR systems.
- Understanding of HIPAA and healthcare data privacy requirements.

Education

- Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Nursing, Pharmacy, Allied Health Sciences, or a related field.
- Medical coding certification such as CPC/CCS is an advantage.
