Responsibilities

Oaktree Capital Management is seeking an experienced SQL Server DBA/Microsoft Fabric Administrator to join our Data Platform team. This dual-role position is responsible for the health, performance, and governance of our Microsoft SQL Server estate alongside the design, deployment, and ongoing administration of our Microsoft Fabric data platform including Copilot enablement, workspace governance, capacity management, and integration with Power BI, Azure Data Factory, and Synapse Analytics.

The ideal candidate brings deep SQL Server expertise, hands-on Fabric administration experience, and the ability to partner with data engineering, analytics, and compliance teams to deliver secure, high-performance data services at enterprise scale.

Responsibilities for this role include:

SQL Server Administration

- Install, configure, patch, and upgrade SQL Server instances (2016–2022) across dev, UAT, and production environments
- Design and maintain high-availability solutions: Always On Availability Groups and Failover Cluster Instances
- Monitor and tune query performance using execution plans, DMVs, Query Store, and Extended Events
- Co-support backup and recovery strategies; own RTO/RPO compliance and conduct periodic DR drills
- Implement and enforce database security: logins, roles, row-level security, TDE, and audit policies
- Administer SQL Server Agent jobs, SSIS packages, and linked servers
- Collaborate with developers on schema changes, stored procedures, and deployment scripts
- Robust background in T-SQL development, execution plan analysis, and schema design
- Participating in on-call rotation for Production Support

Microsoft Fabric Administration

- Administer Fabric tenant settings,



capacity configuration, and workspace governance aligned with security and compliance policies
- Manage Fabric capacity (F-SKU) provisioning, auto-scaling, and cost optimization, monitor CU utilization via the Capacity Metrics app
- Enable and govern Copilot in Fabric: tenant settings, security group scoping, phased rollout, and cross-geo compliance controls
- Provision and manage Fabric workspaces, lakehouses, warehouses, and data pipelines; enforce naming conventions and RBAC
- Administer Power BI Premium / Fabric capacity: semantic models, dataflows Gen2, gateways, and report deployment pipelines
- Configure and manage Fabric Data Agents, AI Skills, and Real-Time Intelligence (Eventhouse / KQL) workloads
- Integrate Fabric with Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, Azure DevOps CI/CD, and Microsoft Purview for data cataloguing and lineage
- Maintain Fabric audit logs, sensitivity label compliance, and Purview information protection policies

Qualifications

- SQL Server: 2016 / 2019 / 2022, SSMS, SSRS, SSIS, SQL Agent, Azure SQL Databases
- In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with Power BI Service administration, including tenant settings and organizational policies
- Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, encompassing its core components: OneLake, Data Factory and Power BI




- Experience in Fabric workspace management and deployment policies
- Solid understanding and practical experience in implementing data governance principles, including data classification, data security, access control, data quality, and compliance
- Strong understanding and experience with Power BI’s security model, including Row-Level Security (RLS) and Object-Level Security (OLS)
- Exposure to dbt, Apache Spark, or PySpark within Fabric notebooks
- Knowledge of Azure SQL PaaS services, Managed Instances, and Azure SQL Hyperscale (preferred)
- Experience with cloud migration and hybrid cloud environments involving SQL Server and Azure SQL
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines involving database and Power BI changes
- Familiarity with Confluence, Jira and SQL Server and Azure database technologies
- Experience with high availability architectures, clustering, and disaster recovery planning

Education

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, business administration, finance, or related field from a top college or university.
