Primary Responsibilities
1. SAP Engineering & Platform Ownership
- Own the engineering and technology landscape for SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA and SAP IBP.
- Ensure stability, availability, performance and supportability of the existing SAP ECC environment during the transformation.
- Lead the technology transition from the existing ECC landscape to the target S/4HANA environment.
- Govern SAP engineering standards, development practices, technical documentation and module ownership.
- Ensure appropriate technical ownership across SAP modules, integrations, interfaces and supporting applications.
- Drive technology modernization and technical debt reduction across the SAP landscape.
2. S/4HANA & SAP IBP Implementation and Transition
- Provide engineering leadership for the S/4HANA and SAP IBP implementation, working closely with business teams and System Integrators.
- Drive technical planning and execution across assessment, fit-gap, solution design, development, integration, testing, data migration, cutover and go-live.
- Ensure clear understanding and governance of As-Is ECC and To-Be S/4HANA architecture, processes and integrations.
- Ensure continuity of business-critical capabilities during the transition from ECC to S/4HANA.
- Govern technical dependencies between S/4HANA / IBP and Commerce, OMS, WMS, CRM, POS and other enterprise platforms.
- Identify migration risks, technical gaps, dependencies and remediation actions and drive them to closure.
- Support business and product teams in evaluating requirements, solution options and technology trade-offs.
- Drive implementation readiness, cutover planning, production readiness and post-go-live stabilization.
- Ensure structured transition from System Integrators to Cromas internal engineering and support teams.
3. SAP Architecture & Integration Governance
- Own and govern the SAP landscape and integration architecture in alignment with Enterprise Architecture principles.
- Govern integration between SAP and non-SAP platforms including Commerce, OMS, WMS, CRM and other digital platforms.
- Govern SAP integration technologies and APIs, including SAP CPI / Integration Suite and API Management.
- Ensure scalable, secure, resilient and maintainable integration architecture.
- Drive adoption of relevant SAP BTP capabilities, including Integration Suite, extension applications and analytics.
- Ensure architecture decisions are appropriately documented through solution designs, integration architecture and technical standards.
- Ensure adherence to S/4HANA clean-core principles and minimize unnecessary customizations.
4. Product & Business Alignment
- Act as the technology counterpart to Product and Business teams for SAP/ERP platforms.
- Translate business objectives and requirements into scalable and sustainable technology solutions.
- Work closely with Finance, Supply Chain, Buying, Merchandising, Store Operations, E-commerce and Customer Service teams.
- Support prioritization of technology initiatives based on business value, technical feasibility, dependencies and risk.
- Participate in requirement definition, solution evaluation, backlog prioritization and release planning.
- Ensure business requirements are appropriately translated into technical requirements,
user stories, acceptance criteria and solution designs.
- Facilitate resolution of cross-functional issues involving Business, Product, Engineering and System Integrators.
5. Engineering Delivery & Agile Governance
- Govern engineering execution across SAP development, integrations and related enterprise applications.
- Drive planning, backlog execution, development, QA, testing, release management and post-deployment support.
- Establish appropriate engineering ownership for modules, interfaces and critical technology components.
- Ensure timely delivery against agreed milestones, SLAs and business priorities.
- Track delivery metrics, defects, technical risks, dependencies and remediation actions.
- Ensure adequate integration, regression and production-readiness testing.
- Drive structured release, change and deployment management across the SAP landscape.
6. Technical Quality, Development Standards & Clean Core
- Establish and enforce engineering standards for ABAP development, APIs, integrations, documentation, testing and version control.
- Govern ABAP development in line with S/4HANA clean-core principles.
- Conduct technical design reviews, code reviews and architecture walkthroughs.
- Ensure appropriate code quality, test coverage and technical documentation.
- Maintain documentation covering system architecture, integrations, module ownership, interfaces and dependencies.
- Identify and drive remediation of technical debt and legacy customizations.
7. System Integrator & Vendor Governance
- Act as the technology leadership interface with SAP, System Integrators, AMS partners and other technology vendors.
- Establish clear technical deliverables, milestones, SLAs, acceptance criteria and governance mechanisms.
- Review vendor solution designs, technical proposals, development quality and implementation progress.
- Validate vendor estimates, technical approaches and proposed customizations.
- Track vendor dependencies, risks, defects and unresolved technical issues.
- Ensure effective knowledge transfer from System Integrators to Cromas internal engineering organization.
- Ensure vendor transition and handover are completed with appropriate documentation and operational readiness.
8. Production Stability & Application Operations
- Ensure continued stability and reliability of the existing SAP ECC environment throughout the transformation period.
- Govern incident, problem and change management for SAP applications and integrations.
- Ensure adherence to application SLAs for availability, performance, incident resolution and defect closure.
- Drive root-cause analysis for critical production issues and ensure permanent corrective actions.
- Establish appropriate monitoring and operational dashboards for critical SAP integrations and interfaces.
- Ensure operational readiness and support processes for S/4HANA and IBP before and after go-live.
- Lead post-go-live stabilization and transition into steady-state operations.
9. Security, Compliance & Technology Risk
- Collaborate with Information Security, Infrastructure and Enterprise Architecture teams to ensure security and compliance requirements are embedded in SAP solutions.
- Ensure secure API, integration and application design.
- Support vulnerability remediation and closure of technology risks.
- Ensure appropriate access and security controls are considered in solution implementation.
- Support adherence to applicable statutory and regulatory requirements relevant to SAP implementations.
- Identify and proactively manage technology risks associated with migration, integrations, data and production cutover.
10. Stakeholder Management & Cross-functional Collaboration
- Establish effective collaboration across Digital & Technology and business functions.
- Coordinate with Product, Enterprise Architecture, Information Security, Infrastructure/Cloud, Data & Analytics and Digital Operations teams.
- Work closely with Finance, Supply Chain, Buying, Merchandising, Store Operations, E-commerce and Customer Service.
- Drive structured governance forums for key technology decisions, risks, dependencies and delivery milestones.
- Ensure timely escalation and resolution of issues impacting business continuity or transformation timelines.
11. Team Leadership & Capability Development
- Build and mentor a high-performing SAP engineering and technology team.
- Establish clear ownership for SAP modules, integrations, applications and technical components.
- Develop internal capabilities in S/4HANA, SAP IBP, integration technologies, APIs and modern SAP architecture.
- Ensure effective knowledge transfer from System Integrators and external partners.
- Partner with HR and Talent Acquisition for hiring and capability development.
- Promote a culture of ownership, engineering excellence, continuous learning and accountability.

Preferred candidate profile
- 12+ years of experience in SAP/ERP technology, software engineering and/or technology leadership roles.
- Strong experience in SAP ECC and S/4HANA, with demonstrated experience in large-scale SAP transformation or implementation programmes.
- Proven experience in ECC-to-S/4HANA migration/implementation, including fit-gap, solution design, integration, testing, cutover and stabilization.
- Experience with SAP IBP and enterprise planning solutions is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of SAP integration with Commerce, OMS, WMS, CRM and other enterprise/digital platforms.
- Experience with SAP CPI / Integration Suite, BTP, APIs and API Management.
- Valuable understanding of ABAP development governance and S/4HANA clean-core principles.
- Experience managing System Integrators, SAP partners and AMS vendors.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional technology teams and work effectively with business stakeholders.
- Experience in retail, consumer, e-commerce or other complex omnichannel environments will be preferred.
