JOB DESCRIPTION: DEPUTY MANAGER HUMAN RESOURCES

Reporting To - Head of HR / HR Director
Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced HR professional to manage employee relations, retention, attrition control, exit management, and HR business partnering. The role requires a proactive individual who can identify employee concerns, address retention risks, resolve workplace issues, and partner with business leaders to improve employee engagement and organisational effectiveness.
1. Employee Relations & Grievance Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for employee grievances, workplace conflicts, and interpersonal issues.
- Ensure timely and confidential resolution of employee concerns.
- Mediate employee-manager conflicts and recommend corrective actions.
- Identify recurring concerns and work with management to prevent future issues.
2. Employee Retention & Attrition Control
- Develop and implement strategies to reduce voluntary and regrettable attrition, particularly among high-performing employees.
- Conduct employee connect sessions, stay interviews, and feedback discussions to identify retention risks.
- Analyse attrition trends and identify key reasons for employee turnover.
- Partner with managers to address concerns related to career growth, compensation, engagement, and work workplace.
- Track retention initiatives and recommend corrective actions based on HR metrics.
3. Exit Management & Employee Separation
- Manage resignation discussions, exit interviews, notice periods, handovers, and separation formalities.
- Analyse exit feedback to identify attrition patterns and organisational improvement areas.
- Identify regrettable exits and recommend retention interventions wherever feasible.
- Coordinate with managers, payroll, and HR operations teams to ensure timely clearances and full and final settlement.

HR Business Partnering (HRBP)
- Partner with business leaders and managers to understand workforce challenges and organisational priorities.
- Advise managers on employee performance, behavioural issues, team effectiveness, and people-related decisions.
- Monitor team morale, engagement, employee concerns, and retention risks.
- Support performance reviews, employee development, and performance improvement plans.
- Translate business needs into HR initiatives that improve employee productivity, engagement, and retention.
5. Employee Engagement & Experience
- Plan and implement employee engagement, recognition, and team-building initiatives.
- Conduct employee feedback sessions and pulse surveys to identify improvement areas.
- Develop action plans with department heads to improve employee satisfaction and workplace culture.
6. Employee Lifecycle & HR Operations
- Oversee employee lifecycle activities, including onboarding, confirmation, internal transfers, promotions, performance reviews, and exits.
- Ensure effective communication of HR policies and processes.
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR trackers, and coordinate with HR operations, payroll, recruitment, and administration teams.
7. HR Analytics & Management Reporting
- Prepare monthly reports on attrition, retention, grievances, engagement, and exit trends.
- Track key HR metrics, including voluntary attrition, regrettable attrition, early-stage attrition, and retention rates.
- Identify trends, prepare management dashboards,
and recommend data-driven improvement measures.
- Maintain action trackers to ensure timely resolution of employee concerns.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong expertise in employee relations, HR business partnering, retention, and attrition management.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive employee matters with confidentiality, empathy, and sound judgement.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proficiency in MS Excel, HRMS, and HR reporting.
- Experience in grievance handling, stay interviews, exit interviews, and stakeholder management.
- Ability to influence managers and work effectively with business leaders and senior management.
Qualifications & Experience
- MBA/PGDM in Human Resources or an equivalent qualification.
- 7–10 years of overall HR experience, preferably in IT services, engineering, consulting, or technology-driven organisations.
- Demonstrated experience in HRBP, employee relations, retention, attrition control, and exit management.
- Experience partnering with business leaders and managing employee concerns across multiple teams.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Reduction in voluntary and regrettable attrition.
- Improved retention of critical and high-performing employees.
- Timely resolution of employee grievances and concerns.
- Quality of exit interviews and attrition analysis.
- Improvement in employee engagement and satisfaction.
