Job Title: Head Stores Operations

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and result-oriented Head Stores to lead and manage the Stores operations at our Umbergaon plant, with oversight of Stores activities at the Dadra location.
The role will be responsible for ensuring efficient inventory management, material availability, warehouse discipline, proper documentation, and effective team management while maintaining strong process and control standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Stores & Inventory Management
- Overall responsibility for day-to-day Stores operations at the Umbergaon plant.
- Ensure proper receipt, storage, identification, preservation, and issue of raw materials, components, packing materials and finished goods.
- Maintain optimum inventory levels and ensure timely availability of materials to support production requirements.
- Monitor stock accuracy and ensure proper physical and system reconciliation.
- Implement effective FIFO/FEFO practices wherever applicable.
- Ensure proper segregation and identification of materials, including rejected, obsolete, excess and slow-moving inventory.
- Monitor inventory ageing and initiate corrective actions to minimise inventory holding and avoid material obsolescence.
2. Team Management
- Lead, guide and monitor the Stores team at Umbergaon.
- Allocate manpower and responsibilities effectively based on operational requirements.
- Monitor team productivity, discipline, attendance and adherence to defined processes.
- Train and develop team members on stores processes, inventory controls, safety and documentation.
- Ensure adequate manpower planning for regular operations as well as peak business requirements.
3. Process & System Controls
- Ensure all Stores transactions are accurately recorded in the ERP/SAP system.
- Establish and maintain robust controls for material receipts, issues, transfers, returns.
- Ensure timely documentation and system updation for all material movements.
- Identify process gaps and implement improvements to enhance operational efficiency and control.
- Support implementation of standard operating procedures and ensure adherence across the team.
4. Stock Audit & Compliance
- Conduct regular cycle counts and physical stock verification.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies in coordination with relevant departments.
- Ensure readiness for internal, customer and statutory audits related to Stores.
- Maintain proper records and documentation for audit requirements.
- Drive corrective and preventive actions for recurring inventory or process deviations.
5. Coordination with Dadra Location
- Provide operational oversight and guidance to the Dadra Stores function.
- Review inventory, manpower and process-related issues at Dadra.
- Ensure consistency in Stores processes and controls across Umbergaon and Dadra.
- Travel to the Gujarat/Dadra locations as required based on business and operational requirements.
6. Cost & Operational Efficiency
- Identify opportunities to reduce inventory carrying costs, handling costs, wastage and operational inefficiencies.
- Improve warehouse utilisation and material movement processes.
- Monitor and identify areas for optimisation.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within Stores operations.
7. Safety & Housekeeping
- Ensure safe handling, storage and movement of materials.
- Maintain proper warehouse housekeeping and 5S standards.
- Ensure adherence to applicable safety procedures and plant guidelines.
- Immediately address unsafe practices or conditions within the Stores areas.

Candidate Profile
- Graduate/Diploma in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, Commerce or a relevant discipline.
- 1015 years of relevant experience in Stores, Warehouse, Inventory, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in handling plant-level Stores operations with a sizeable team.
- Strong knowledge of inventory management, warehouse processes.
- Working knowledge of SAP and inventory management systems.
- Good understanding of documentation, stock reconciliation and material movement controls.
- Strong leadership, coordination and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple operational priorities.
- Willingness to travel between plant locations based on business requirements.
Preferred Experience
Experience in a manufacturing/engineering/industrial environment, particularly in organisations handling high-volume material movement, will be preferred.
