The role ensures technical excellence, regulatory compliance, seamless integration with multidisciplinary teams, and effective support during construction and procurement phases.
Key Responsibilities
1. Alignment & Track Design
Lead the design of horizontal and vertical railway alignments, ensuring safety, operational efficiency, and constructability while considering SOD, terrain, environmental factors, and site constraints.
Coordinate with survey, bridge, and geotechnical teams to optimize alignment solutions.
Design track structures including fastenings, crossings, and turnout systems for smooth and secure rail operations.
Apply knowledge of LWR/CWR, RSI studies, track materials, and construction techniques to develop robust designs and support track commissioning.
2. Technical Expertise
Evaluate structural interdependencies between track and bridges; recommend design provisions to ensure operational safety.
Assess noise and vibration impacts on adjacent structures and communities; propose mitigation measures to meet regulatory requirements.
3. Multi-disciplinary Coordination & Approvals
Liaise with consultants, clients,
and authorities to secure design and drawing approvals in line with project standards.
Collaborate with engineering and project teams to integrate site conditions, environmental considerations, and project goals.
4. Regulatory Compliance & Documentation
Ensure all designs comply with relevant national and international standards (IRS, IS, EN, JIS, AASHTO, ASTM).
Prepare, review, and maintain design reports, drawings, specifications, and client presentations.
5. Construction Support
Provide technical assistance to site teams, resolve execution issues, and respond to drawing-related queries.
Prepare construction drawings and conduct site visits to verify alignment with design requirements.
6. Bidding, Proposals & Estimation
Analyze technical requirements from bid documents, prepare quantity estimates, develop technical proposals, and contribute to winning strategies.
7. Procurement & Vendor Management
