A Technical Project Manager (TPM) leads the end-to-end delivery of complex software projects, acting as the bridge between business, architecture, and engineering teams. The role combines strong technical understanding, project management, and stakeholder communication.
Role & Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end delivery of technically complex software projects.
- Translate business requirements into actionable features, user stories, specifications, and delivery plans.
- Manage scope, schedule, dependencies, risks, issues, and technical deliverables.
- Coordinate architects, technical leads, developers, QA, Dev Ops, business analysts, and other stakeholders.
- Drive Agile/Scrum ceremonies, sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Establish and maintain project plans, milestones, release plans, and delivery status.
- Ensure requirements, architecture, development, testing, and deployment remain aligned.
- Coordinate technical design and architecture reviews with the Technical Lead.
- Drive requirements traceability and documentation throughout the SDLC.
- Support adoption of Spec-Driven Development (SDD) and Git-based development practices.
- Track technical risks, dependencies, assumptions, and architectural decisions.
- Coordinate SIT, UAT, production readiness, releases, and post-release activities.
- Communicate project status, risks, dependencies, and decisions to management and stakeholders.
- Ensure adherence to engineering, security, quality, and delivery standards.
- Facilitate resolution of cross-team technical and delivery issues.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, , Type Script, SQL, and microservices.
- Positive understanding of software architecture and distributed systems.
- Understanding of API-first and event-driven architectures.
- Understanding of cloud, containers, Kubernetes/Open Shift, and CI/CD.
- Strong knowledge of Agile/Scrum and SDLC processes.
- Experience with Git/Git Hub and modern development practices.
- Knowledge of Spec-Driven Development / Git Hub Spec Kit is an advantage.
- Understanding of application security, authentication, authorization, and Dev Ops practices.
- Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
- Ability to review architecture and technical designs and communicate technical issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience
- 10+ years of overall IT/software engineering experience.
- 5+ years in technical project/program management or technical delivery management.
- Experience managing enterprise application development projects involving multiple technical teams.
- Experience working with Agile/Scrum teams.
- Experience managing distributed or cross-functional development teams.
- Experience with end-to-end SDLC from requirements through production deployment.
- Experience working with enterprise clients and senior stakeholders.
- Experience in architecture-led or modernization projects is preferred.
