Job Description:
Job Summary
The SME - Network & Security Infrastructure will be a senior hands-on technical resource responsible for the organization's enterprise network and associated security infrastructure. The role will provide L3/SME-level support for LAN, WAN, routing, switching, firewalls, VPN, wireless, cloud connectivity and network security, and will independently handle complex incidents, changes and improvement activities.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage and support enterprise LAN, WAN, Internet and data center network infrastructure.
• Configure and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls, wireless infrastructure and related network devices.
• Manage VLANs, trunking, LAG/LACP, STP, inter-VLAN routing and network segmentation.
• Configure and troubleshoot routing protocols including OSPF and BGP.
• Manage firewall policies, NAT, security zones, objects and network access controls.
• Manage site-to-site and remote-access VPN connectivity.
• Support network security platforms including firewalls, IDS/IPS and related security solutions.
• Manage connectivity between offices, data centers, cloud environments and external service providers.
• Support Azure/AWS cloud networking including VNets/VPCs, routing, VPN and connectivity with on-premises environments.
• Monitor network availability, bandwidth utilization, latency, packet loss and overall performance.
• Troubleshoot complex network incidents and perform packet-level analysis where required.
• Perform Root Cause Analysis for major network outages and recurring incidents.
• Plan and execute network upgrades, migrations and technology refresh activities.
• Maintain network security standards and implement recommended hardening practices.
• Periodically review firewall and network configurations and coordinate cleanup of obsolete configurations.
• Coordinate with ISPs, OEMs and network/security vendors for incidents, changes and service-related issues.
• Manage IP addressing and maintain IP/VLAN/network inventory.
• Maintain network diagrams, configuration documents, SOPs and configuration backups.
• Support vulnerability remediation and infrastructure security audits.
• Implement and maintain network redundancy and high-availability configurations.
• Provide L3/SME-level technical guidance to network engineers and support teams.
• Participate in change management and ensure production network changes are planned, tested and documented.
• Provide network architecture and technical inputs for new infrastructure requirements and projects.
Required Skills
• Enterprise routing and switching
• TCP/IP, VLAN, STP, LACP and Layer 2/Layer 3 troubleshooting
• OSPF and BGP
• Firewall configuration and administration
• NAT and network security policies
• IPsec and SSL VPN
• High availability and network redundancy
• Enterprise wireless networking
• DNS and DHCP fundamentals
• Network monitoring and troubleshooting
• Packet analysis using Wireshark or equivalent tools
• Azure/AWS cloud networking
• Network security and segmentation
• Cisco/Aruba/HPE networking experience preferred
• Fortinet/Sophos/Palo Alto or equivalent firewall experience
• Network documentation and diagram preparation
Qualification & Experience
• Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent.
• 7-10 years of relevant enterprise networking experience.
• CCNP or equivalent networking certification preferred.
• Fortinet, Palo Alto, Aruba or other relevant OEM certifications preferred.
• Solid hands-on troubleshooting capabilities for critical production network issues.
