Role Description The ASSET IN-CHARGE is a full-time, on-site role based in Mangaluru, responsible for overseeing the lifecycle of university assets, including acquisition, tagging, documentation, maintenance coordination, and disposal as per institutional policies. Day-to-day tasks include maintaining accurate asset registers, conducting regular physical verification, reconciling records with finance and procurement teams, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and audit requirements. The role involves coordinating with departments to track asset movement, monitoring warranty and service agreements, and initiating timely repairs or replacements to minimize downtime. The ASSET IN-CHARGE will prepare periodic reports and dashboards on asset status, support budgeting and planning for capital expenditure, and assist in implementing systems or software for asset tracking and inventory management.



The position requires close collaboration with administrative, IT, and facilities teams to ensure assets are used efficiently, safeguarded properly, and aligned with the university's operational needs.
Qualifications

- Experience in asset management, inventory control, or storekeeping within an institutional or corporate environment.
- Strong skills in data entry, record keeping, and using spreadsheets or asset management software for tracking and reporting.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles related to asset capitalization, depreciation, and reconciliation with finance records.
- Ability to conduct physical verification, inspections, and audits of assets with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective coordination and communication skills to work with procurement, finance, IT, and departmental teams.
- Organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple locations, competing priorities, and regular reporting deadlines.
- Understanding of institutional policies and compliance requirements related to asset handling, disposal, and documentation.
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in commerce, business administration, logistics, or a related field; relevant certifications in inventory or asset management are an advantage.
- Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel) and comfort with learning new digital tools or ERP systems.
- Demonstrated integrity, reliability, and ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a university environment.
