Job Description
T-Mobile is expanding its TfB capabilities and is seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to own quality engineering for Salesforce-based B2B and enterprise solutions. This role designs and builds automated test frameworks, drives test strategy across the delivery lifecycle, and partners with developers, business analysts, and product owners to ensure Salesforce releases are reliable, secure, and defect-free.
The SDET combines strong software-engineering skills with deep testing expertise to shift quality left, reduce production risk, and build durable automation that scales with the platform.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain automated test frameworks and suites for Salesforce applications, covering UI, API, and data-layer testing.
- Develop Apex test classes and ensure meaningful code coverage, adherence to bulkification, and validation of governor-limit behavior.
- Build and maintain automated regression, functional, and integration test suites using tools such as ACCELQ, Selenium, TOSCA, Copado, or similar Salesforce test-automation platforms.
- Define and execute test strategy and test plans for new features, integrations, and platform enhancements, including risk-based test prioritization.
- Validate integrations between Salesforce and external systems (REST/SOAP APIs, middleware, Platform Events)
for functional correctness, data integrity, and error handling.
- Perform functional, regression, integration, performance, and exploratory testing across Salesforce releases and sandboxes.
- Identify, document, and track defects; perform root-cause analysis in partnership with development teams; verify fixes.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing and secure, frequent deployments.
- Collaborate with developers and architects during design reviews to build testability into features from the start.
- Monitor test results, coverage metrics, and quality KPIs; report on release readiness and quality risk to stakeholders.
- Maintain test-data management strategies and environment/sandbox readiness for testing needs.
- Mentor other QA/testing team members on automation practices, tools, and Salesforce-specific testing techniques.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience in software quality engineering / test automation, including experience testing Salesforce applications.
- Hands-on experience writing Apex test classes and validating Salesforce configuration, automation, and integrations.
- Experience building and maintaining automated test frameworks/scripts (e.g., ACCELQ, Selenium, TOSCA, Copado, or similar tools) using a programming or scripting language such as Java, JavaScript, or Apex.
- Strong understanding of basic software design principles and the ability to apply them in automation framework and test suite development. Candidate should be able to build reusable, maintainable, scalable, and customizable automation solutions.
- Solid understanding of the Salesforce data model, security model (profiles, permission sets, sharing), and platform limits as they relate to testing.
- Experience testing REST/SOAP API integrations, including using tools such as Postman or SoapUI.
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and working with source control (Git).
- Strong understanding of QA methodologies, including test planning, test-case design, defect management, and risk-based testing.
- Ability to analyze requirements and designs to identify test scenarios, edge cases, and quality risks.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly report quality status and risk to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of Agile delivery practices and collaboration across Product, Development, Architecture, and Release Management teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Salesforce certifications such as Platform Developer I/II, Administrator, or a testing-focused Salesforce credential.
- Experience with performance and load testing tools for Salesforce or integrated systems.
- Experience with data-migration validation, master-data quality checks, or synchronization testing involving Salesforce.
- Experience in telecommunications, wireless, IoT, enterprise connectivity, quoting, contracting, order management, or related B2B domains.
- Experience with observability/monitoring tools for tracking test and release quality trends.
- Experience working with distributed onshore and offshore engineering and QA teams.
