Summary: Provide professional nursing care in medical‑surgical, ICU, or community settings, supporting a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing interventions.
Monitor and administer medications, intravenous infusions, and ensure a second qualified nurse is present for high‑risk drug preparation.
Maintain accurate, confidential patient records and communicate updates to the health‑care team.
Report defective equipment or supply shortages to the appropriate department promptly.
Ensure infection‑control standards, proper biomedical waste disposal, and adherence to hospital policies.
Coordinate admissions, transfers, and discharges with ward secretaries and multidisciplinary teams.
Support fire safety procedures and ensure staff are aware of equipment locations.
Participate in unit audits, quality‑improvement projects, and evidence‑based practice initiatives.
Provide patient education, answer queries, and facilitate dietician‑related instructions.
Supervise and mentor junior staff or nurses‑in‑training, identifying learning needs.
Assist with resource planning, cost‑effective care delivery,
and equipment management.
Qualifications & Experience
Diploma in General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM) or B.Sc. Nursing (or equivalent) – xxxxx certification.
Minimum 1 year of clinical experience; up to 5 years acceptable, preferably in medical‑surgical, orthopaedic, neuro‑spine, or critical‑care settings.
Valid nursing registration with the state board or relevant licensing authority.
Core Skills & Competencies
Competent in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line care, and medication administration.
Knowledge of infection‑control practices and biomedical waste management.
Ability to work collaboratively, maintain a positive attitude, and manage workload in a rapid‑paced workplace.
Excellent communication, documentation, and patient‑confidentiality skills.
Familiarity with audit, research participation, and evidence‑based care processes.
Basic computer literacy for electronic health‑record systems.
