WeareseekinganexperiencedL3MessagingPlatformEngineertosupportandevolveourenterpriseIBMMQmessagingecosystem.Thisroleisdesignedforadeeplytechnicalengineerwhogoesbeyondreactivesupportandhelpsdrivetheteamtowardaproactive,automation-first,andreliability-focusedoperatingmodel.

This role provides hands-on opportunities to influence platformstrategy,engineeringpractices,tooling,automation,andoperationalmaturitywhilepartneringcloselywithL2supportteams,applicationowners,infrastructureteams,securitypartners,andotherengineeringgroups.

PrimaryResponsibilities





- ServeastheL3technicalSMEforIBMMQandmessagingtechnologies,providingadvancedtroubleshooting,designguidance,andresolutionofcomplexmessagingincidentsacrossproductionandnon-productionenvironments.
- PartnercloselywithL2supportteamstoimproveoperationalmaturitybyshiftingknowledgeleftthroughenhancedrunbooks,tooling,automation,documentation,andclearescalationpatterns.
- Leadproblemmanagementandrootcauseanalysis(RCA)efforts,ensuringrecurringincidentsarefullyunderstood,permanentlyremediated,andpreventedfromrecurring.
- Designandimplementproactivemonitoring,alerting,andhealthindicatorstoidentifyleadingsignalsoffailureandreducecustomer-impactingincidents.
- Identifyrepetitiveoperationalfailurepatternsandengineerself-healingautomationtoautomaticallydetect,mitigate,orrecoverfromknownfailurescenarios.
- BuildandmaintainautomationforMQlifecycleoperations,includingprovisioning,configurationvalidation,certificatemanagement,healthchecks,andrecoveryworkflows.
- Reduceoperationaltoilbycontinuouslyreplacingmanualinterventionwithpolicy-driven,automated,andresilientsolutions.
- Activelycontributetoincidentpostmortems,blamelessretrospectives,andreliabilityreviews,withafocusonsystemicimprovementsandlong-termremediation.
- Supportandinfluenceplatformmodernizationinitiatives,includingcontainerizedmessaging,cloudandhybridarchitectures,andCI/CDintegration,whereapplicable.
- Collaboratewithengineering,infrastructure,security,andapplicationteamstodeliversecure,resilient,scalable,andstandards-compliantmessagingsolutions.
- MentorengineersacrossL2andL3teams,promotingbestpracticesintroubleshooting,reliabilityengineering,automation,andproactiveoperations.




- OperatewithastrongSiteReliabilityEngineering(SRE)mindset,focusingonplatformreliability,availability,scalability,resilience,andcontinuousimprovementratherthanreactiveincidenthandlingalone.

Qualifications

- Minimumof10yearsofrelatedtechnologyexperience,withstrongexperiencesupportingenterpriseproductionenvironments.
- StrongexpertisewithIBMMQ,includingMQIPTandNativeHA,andexperiencewithIBMAppConnectEnterprise(ACE).
- ProvenL3troubleshootingexperience,includingcomplexincidentanalysis,performancetroubleshooting,rootcauseanalysis,andfailurerecovery.
- StrongexperienceworkinginLinux/Unixenvironments.
- Strongunderstandingofhigh-availability,resilient,andfault-tolerantsystemdesign.
- ExperiencewithinfrastructureandconfigurationautomationtoolssuchasAnsible,Chef,andTerraform.
- ExperiencewithobservabilityandmonitoringplatformssuchasSplunk,Grafana,Prometheus,andAPM6.
- Exposuretocontainerizedmessagingplatformsandmoderndeploymentmodels,includingOpenShift/Kubernetesandcloudorhybridenvironments.
- Abilitytoidentifyrecurringoperationalissuesandengineerlong-term,sustainablesolutionsratherthanrelyingonshort-termworkarounds.
- Provenabilitytoremaincalm,structured,anddecisiveduringmajorincidentswhileprovidingstrongtechnicalleadershipandclearcommunication.
- StrongSiteReliabilityEngineering(SRE)mindset,withdemonstratedexperienceimprovingsystemreliability,stability,andavailabilitythroughengineeringandautomationratherthanmanualintervention.
- Strongownershipmindsetwiththeabilitytoindependentlydrivetechnicalissuesandinitiativesthroughresolution.
