Job Description – Store Helper / Store Assistant

Position: Store Helper / Store Assistant
Department: Stores
Location: VGP Heritage Pvt Ltd, Chennai
Reporting To: Store Manager / Inventory Manager

Job Summary:
The Store Helper / Store Assistant will support the Store Manager in receiving, arranging, issuing, and maintaining stock and ensuring the store is clean, organized, and properly maintained.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist in receiving and unloading materials and supplies.
- Check items received against the delivery documents.
- Properly arrange and store materials in designated areas.
- Assist in issuing materials to different departments as per approved requirements.
- Maintain proper cleanliness and organization of the store.
- Support daily stock counting and physical verification.
- Inform the Store Manager about shortages, damages, or discrepancies.
- Assist in maintaining stock records and documentation.
- Follow proper FIFO/FEFO practices wherever applicable.




- Handle materials carefully to prevent damage and wastage.
- Assist during monthly stock taking and inventory checks.
- Ensure all store items are properly labelled and arranged.
- Follow company rules regarding safety, hygiene, and security.
- Perform other store-related duties assigned by the Store Manager or Management.

Requirements

- Minimum 1 year of experience in a store, warehouse, hotel, restaurant, or similar workplace preferred.
- Basic knowledge of handling and arranging stock.
- Ability to lift and move materials safely.
- Basic reading and writing skills.
- Good discipline, punctuality, and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Knowledge of basic stock handling will be an advantage.
