1. Job Purpose

The Logistics Executive will be responsible for managing and coordinating the end-to-end movement and delivery of steel and iron & steel products from suppliers/stockyards to customers and designated locations.

The role involves transportation planning, vehicle coordination, dispatch management, transporter/vendor coordination, delivery tracking, freight management and ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of materials.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Logistics & Transportation Management

- Coordinate the transportation of steel and iron & steel products from suppliers, manufacturers and stockyards to customer locations.
- Plan and arrange vehicles based on material quantity, product type, destination and delivery requirements.
- Coordinate with transporters, truck owners, drivers and logistics vendors.
- Ensure timely placement of vehicles for loading and dispatch.
- Monitor vehicle movement from loading point to delivery destination.
- Track and update the status of all shipments until final delivery.
- Ensure timely delivery as per customer commitments.

B. Steel Material Dispatch Coordination

- Coordinate with Procurement, Sales, Warehouse and Operations teams for dispatch planning.
- Verify material details including grade, size, quantity, weight and destination before dispatch.
- Coordinate loading schedules with suppliers and stockyards.
- Ensure proper loading and safe transportation of steel materials.
- Monitor dispatch documentation and ensure all required documents are available.
- Follow up on pending dispatches and delayed deliveries.

C. Transporter & Vendor Management

- Develop and maintain strong relationships with transporters and logistics service providers.
- Identify and coordinate with reliable transporters for different routes and vehicle requirements.
- Negotiate transportation rates wherever required.
- Compare freight rates and select cost-effective transportation options.
- Monitor transporter performance regarding cost, delivery time and service quality.
- Resolve transportation-related issues, delays and disputes.

Freight & Cost Management

- Obtain and compare freight quotations from transporters.
- Negotiate competitive transportation rates.
- Monitor freight costs and identify opportunities for cost optimization.
- Maintain route-wise and transporter-wise freight records.
- Verify transporter bills against agreed rates, vehicle details and delivery records.
- Coordinate with Finance for timely processing of transporter payments.
- Support management in controlling overall logistics costs.

E. Vehicle & Delivery Tracking

- Coordinate vehicle placement and loading schedules.
- Track vehicles through phone, GPS or transporter tracking systems.
- Maintain records of vehicle number, driver details, loading time, dispatch time and expected delivery time.
- Follow up with drivers/transporter teams regarding vehicle movement.
- Immediately escalate delays, breakdowns, accidents or route-related issues.
- Coordinate alternate arrangements whenever required to avoid delivery delays.

F. Documentation & Compliance

- Ensure proper documentation for movement of steel materials.
- Coordinate with relevant teams for e-way bills, invoices, delivery challans, weighment slips and other transportation documents.
- Verify dispatch and delivery documentation.
- Maintain accurate logistics records and shipment documentation.
- Ensure compliance with applicable transportation and statutory requirements.
- Maintain records of proof of delivery (POD) and delivery confirmations.

G. Customer Delivery Coordination

- Coordinate with customers regarding delivery schedules and unloading requirements.
- Share vehicle and delivery details with customers where required.
- Follow up for unloading and delivery confirmation.
- Collect and maintain PODs after successful delivery.
- Resolve delivery-related customer concerns in coordination with Sales and Operations teams.
- Ensure customer commitments are met within agreed timelines.

3. Educational Qualification

- Bachelor's degree in any relevant discipline.
- Graduate/Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations or related fields will be an advantage.




- Candidates with robust practical experience in steel logistics will be preferred.

4. Experience

- 4–6 years of relevant logistics/transportation experience.
- Steel / Iron & Steel industry experience is mandatory.
- Experience in transportation and dispatch of steel products will be strongly preferred.
- Experience handling heavy vehicles, truck transportation, steel stockyards and B2C deliveries will be an added advantage.
- Candidates with good transporter contacts in Visakhapatnam and Andhra Pradesh will be preferred.

5. Required Skills & Competencies

- Knowledge of local and regional transportation routes in Andhra Pradesh.

- Good knowledge of MS Excel, MS Office and ERP/logistics software.
- Knowledge of GPS/vehicle tracking systems will be an advantage.

7. Preferred Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate should have 4–6 years of hands-on logistics experience in the steel/iron & steel industry, with strong knowledge of transportation, dispatch and delivery operations.

The candidate should be capable of independently coordinating vehicle placement, steel material dispatch, transporter negotiations, freight management, vehicle tracking, delivery schedules and POD closure.

Candidates with an established network of transporters and truck operators in Visakhapatnam and Andhra Pradesh will be strongly preferred.
