1. Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and skilled Senior Electrician to manage, maintain, inspect, and repair the school's electrical systems, equipment, and infrastructure. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe and uninterrupted functioning of electrical installations across classrooms, offices, laboratories, hostels, and other campus facilities.

The ideal candidate must have strong technical knowledge, practical troubleshooting skills, and the ability to handle electrical maintenance independently while following all safety standards.

2. Key Roles and Responsibilities

A. Electrical Maintenance and Repairs

- Inspect, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, switches, sockets, lighting systems, fans, and other electrical installations.
- Maintain electrical panels, distribution boards, circuit breakers, MCBs, RCCBs, and related equipment.
- Identify and resolve electrical faults, short circuits, power failures, and voltage-related issues.
- Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance of electrical systems throughout the campus.
- Ensure the proper functioning of classroom lights, fans, smart boards, office equipment, and other electrical appliances.
- Attend electrical complaints and maintenance requests from different departments promptly.

B. Power Supply and Equipment Management

- Monitor and maintain electrical distribution systems and campus power supply.
- Inspect and maintain generators, inverters, UPS systems, and battery backup equipment, wherever applicable.
- Coordinate with external electricians, electrical contractors, and service providers for major repairs.
- Assist in electrical installation work during campus expansion, renovations, and new construction.
- Monitor electrical load distribution and report overloading, overheating, or unusual power consumption.

C. School and Hostel Maintenance

- Ensure the proper functioning of electrical systems in classrooms, laboratories, libraries, offices, washrooms, kitchens, and common areas.
- Attend electrical maintenance requirements in boys' and girls' hostels, staff accommodation, and other campus buildings, as assigned.
- Ensure adequate lighting in corridors, staircases, playgrounds, parking areas, and campus surroundings.
- Respond promptly to urgent electrical complaints that may affect school operations or student safety.
- Support electrical arrangements for school functions, examinations, events, and other institutional activities.

D. Safety and Compliance





- Follow all electrical safety procedures and applicable standards while carrying out maintenance work.
- Ensure proper earthing, insulation, and safe functioning of electrical installations.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and insulated tools.
- Isolate the power supply before carrying out repairs and follow lockout/tagout procedures wherever applicable.
- Never carry out unsafe live electrical work or permit unauthorized persons to handle electrical equipment.
- Report electrical hazards, damaged cables, exposed wires, and other safety risks immediately.
- Ensure that electrical work is carried out in accordance with applicable regulations and under the supervision of authorized personnel wherever required.

E. Team Coordination and Supervision

- Guide and supervise junior electricians and maintenance helpers, if assigned.
- Allocate daily electrical maintenance tasks and monitor their completion.
- Coordinate with the Administration Department, Maintenance In-charge, and other departments.
- Ensure timely completion of electrical repair and installation work.
- Verify the quality and safety of work performed by external contractors.

F. Documentation and Reporting

- Maintain records of electrical maintenance, repairs, inspections, and breakdowns.
- Prepare reports on recurring faults, equipment failures, and pending maintenance work.
- Maintain an inventory of electrical tools, spare parts, cables, switches, and other materials.
- Inform the concerned authority before purchasing electrical materials or arranging external repairs.
- Maintain records of preventive maintenance schedules and report any major electrical expenditure or replacement requirements.

3. Educational Qualifications

- ITI in Electrician Trade is preferred.
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering will be an added advantage.
- Relevant technical certification and practical electrical maintenance knowledge are required.
- Must possess a sound understanding of electrical wiring, circuits, distribution systems, and safety procedures.

4. Experience Required

- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in electrical maintenance, preferably in a school, college, hospital, residential campus, commercial building, or large institutional facility.
- Experience in handling electrical panels, wiring, fault diagnosis, preventive maintenance, and electrical installations.
- Experience supervising junior technicians will be an advantage.
- Experience in hostel or residential campus maintenance will be preferred.

5. Required Skills and Competencies

- Good knowledge of electrical tools, testing instruments, and safety equipment.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple maintenance requests.

- Ability to coordinate with administration and maintenance teams.
- Responsible, disciplined, punctual, and safety-conscious.
- Ability to respond appropriately to urgent electrical breakdowns.
- Basic documentation and reporting skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in Hindi and Gujarati will be preferred.

6. Duty Timings and Accommodation

- Duty Timing: 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
- Working Days: As per the school's duty roster and applicable weekly-off policy.
- Accommodation: Bachelor accommodation will be provided by the school.
- The candidate must be willing to work on the school campus and attend emergency maintenance requirements as assigned.
- Any work beyond scheduled duty hours will be managed as per the school's applicable policy.

7. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

The performance of the Senior Electrician will be evaluated on the basis of:

- Timely resolution of electrical complaints and breakdowns.
- Proper functioning and maintenance of campus electrical systems.
- Completion of preventive maintenance according to schedule.
- Compliance with electrical safety standards and procedures.
- Reduction in recurring electrical faults and equipment downtime.
- Accuracy of maintenance records and inventory reports.
- Effective supervision and coordination with the maintenance team.
- Timely reporting of electrical hazards and major repair requirements.

8. Additional Requirements

- Must be physically fit to perform electrical maintenance duties safely.
- Must be willing to work across different buildings and sections of the school campus.
- Must follow institutional rules, discipline, confidentiality, and safety protocols.
- Must provide relevant educational certificates, experience certificates, and identity documents during the recruitment process.
- Any legally required electrical authorization or licence must be held where applicable to the assigned work.

Reports To: Maintenance In-charge / Administration Department / Authorized School Management Representative.
