Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Solution Architect specializing in Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and FinOps to lead the design, optimization, governance, and cost management of enterprise-scale virtual desktop environments on Microsoft Azure. The role will be responsible for defining AVD architecture, driving cloud financial optimization initiatives, improving user experience, and ensuring scalable, secure, and cost-efficient digital workplace solutions aligned with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Design and architect enterprise-scale Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) solutions for global environments. Develop AVD reference architectures, standards, governance frameworks, and deployment models. Lead AVD cost optimization and FinOps initiatives, including rightsizing, utilization analysis, reserved instances, and consumption governance. Define and implement strategies for host pool design, session management, autoscaling, and workload optimization. Analyze AVD performance, user density, session utilization, storage consumption, and infrastructure costs to maximize ROI. Work closely with Digital Workplace, Infrastructure, Security, and Application teams to ensure seamless end-user experience. Provide architectural guidance on FSLogix, profile management, image management, application delivery, and endpoint integration. Establish monitoring and reporting frameworks using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, KQL, Power BI, and FinOps dashboards. Lead cloud cost forecasting, budgeting, chargeback/showback, and financial governance discussions with business stakeholders. Evaluate emerging Azure technologies and recommend improvements to enhance service reliability, performance, and efficiency. Drive automation and Infrastructure-as-Code adoption for AVD provisioning and lifecycle management.

Skill Requirements





10+ years of experience in End User Computing (EUC), Digital Workplace, Cloud Infrastructure, or Virtualization technologies. 5+ years of hands-on experience designing and implementing Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments. Strong understanding of: AVD Host Pools Session Hosts Scaling Plans Personal and Pooled Desktops Multi-Session Windows Application Groups Azure Lighthouse Expertise in FSLogix profile containers, profile optimization, storage design, and application delivery. Deep knowledge of Azure infrastructure components including Compute, Networking, Storage, Identity, Security, and Monitoring. Strong experience with FinOps practices including: Cost modeling Cloud cost governance Budget management Azure Cost Management Reserved Instances Savings Plans Rightsizing strategies Consumption optimization Experience analyzing AVD telemetry using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and KQL. Solid understanding of user-density planning, workload sizing, performance engineering, and capacity management. Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Bicep, ARM Templates, or Terraform. Knowledge of Azure governance, RBAC, Policy Management, and Zero Trust principles.

Other Requirements

Experience with Windows 365 Cloud PC architecture and optimization. Knowledge of VMware Horizon, Citrix DaaS, or other VDI platforms. Experience integrating AVD with Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Defender, and Microsoft Entra ID. Familiarity with Power BI-based FinOps dashboards and executive reporting. Exposure to AI-driven capacity forecasting and predictive cost analytics. Experience with Azure Automation, PowerShell, Logic Apps, and platform automation. Understanding of Software Asset Management (SAM) and Microsoft licensing models. Microsoft certifications such as: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305) Azure Administrator (AZ-104) Azure Virtual Desktop Specialty FinOps Certified Practitioner (FOCP)
