Full Stack Developer – Headless Shopify / E-commerce

About the Role

Ara Pret is looking for an experienced Full Stack Developer with Headless Shopify expertise to build our current e-commerce website from the ground up.

The website will use a decoupled/headless architecture:

Custom Frontend → Shopify APIs → Shopify Commerce Backend

The frontend will be independently developed to give Ara Pret greater flexibility over UI/UX, product discovery, filtering, fit/size experiences, reviews, recommendations and future custom features. Shopify will remain the core commerce backend for products, variants, inventory, pricing, customers, orders, checkout and related commerce operations.

This is a 3-month project-based role with end-to-end delivery responsibility, from technical architecture and frontend development through Shopify integration, testing, deployment and handover.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop a custom, responsive and mobile-first e-commerce frontend from scratch based on approved UI/UX designs.
- Build core experiences including homepage, navigation, collection/category pages, Product Detail Pages, search, cart, customer accounts and editorial/brand pages.
- Connect the custom frontend with the Shopify backend using Shopify Storefront APIs and other relevant APIs.
- Configure and integrate products, variants, collections, inventory, pricing, discounts, cart and checkout.
- Develop advanced product discovery features including search, sorting and filters by size, colour, price, category, fabric, fit, silhouette and other relevant attributes.
- Integrate product reviews & ratings, size guides, wish list, product recommendations, recently viewed products and other approved features.
- Build the architecture to support future features such as fit finder/size recommendation, personalised product discovery, shop-the-look and styling tools.
- Integrate required third-party tools/APIs without compromising website speed or stability.
- Implement analytics and customer-event tracking across the complete shopping funnel.
- Ensure strong performance, technical SEO, security,



accessibility and cross-device/browser compatibility.
- Conduct complete QA from product discovery through checkout and purchase.
- Maintain clean, scalable, version-controlled code and provide full technical documentation and handover at project completion.

Required Technical Skills

Strong experience in the following is essential:

- React.js / Next.js or Shopify Hydrogen
- JavaScript / TypeScript
- HTML5, CSS3 and responsive frontend development
- Headless Shopify architecture
- Shopify Storefront API / GraphQL
- Shopify Admin API where required
- Shopify Customer Account integration
- Shopify products, variants, collections and metafields/metaobjects
- Cart and Shopify checkout integration
- REST API / third-party API integrations
- Search and filtering architecture
- Git / GitHub and version control
- Deployment using platforms such as Vercel, Shopify Oxygen or equivalent
- GA4, Meta Pixel and e-commerce event tracking
- Performance optimisation and Core Web Vitals
- Technical SEO

The candidate should be able to take Figma/UI designs and accurately translate them into a production-quality fashion e-commerce experience.

Experience with fashion, luxury, lifestyle or D2C e-commerce is strongly preferred.

3-Month Project Deliverables

Month 1 — Architecture + Core Build

- Finalise technical architecture

Month 3 — Optimisation + Launch

- End-to-end integration testing

- Production deployment
- Documentation and internal-team handover
- Post-launch stabilisation

Business Parameters to Enable & Measure

The developer will be responsible for creating the measurement infrastructure, not for achieving commercial targets.

The website should allow Ara Pret to track:

Traffic & Acquisition: users, sessions, source/medium, campaign traffic, new vs returning users.

Product Discovery: collection views, product views, search behaviour, filter usage, size-guide usage, review engagement and product recommendation engagement.

Conversion Funnel: product view → add to cart → checkout → purchase, including add-to-cart rate, checkout initiation, cart/checkout abandonment and conversion rate.

Commerce: orders, revenue, Average Order Value (AOV), units per transaction, category/product contribution, discount usage and eventually returning-customer behaviour.

Technical Performance: page speed, Core Web Vitals, mobile performance, errors and tracking health.

Candidate Requirements

- 3–5+ years relevant full-stack/e-commerce development experience.
- Proven experience building headless Shopify storefronts.
- Strong frontend development capability — not just Shopify theme customisation.
- Strong understanding of Shopify's commerce architecture and APIs.
- Ability to independently own a project from architecture → development → integration → QA → launch.
- Strong eye for UI accuracy and premium digital experiences.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving ability.
- Able to deliver within a fixed 3-month project timeline.
- Comfortable collaborating with Brand, Design, Marketing and Merchandising teams.

Application Requirement

Candidates must share 2–3 live e-commerce websites they personally developed, preferably including at least one headless Shopify implementation, clearly explaining their individual contribution.

Portfolio/GitHub links, availability for the complete three-month project and expected project fee should also be included.

Pay: ₹50,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
