Job Description

Conduct research on the seismic behaviour and resilience of building systems and non-structural components

Develop component-level load–deformation relationships and constitutive models to capture material nonlinearity and deterioration

Perform nonlinear static and nonlinear time-history analyses to evaluate seismic performance

Develop fragility curves considering material, modelling, and ground-motion uncertainties

Quantify seismic resilience using performance, damage, and recovery metrics

Develop performance-based seismic design recommendations and practical guidelines for target safety and resilience; and disseminate outcomes through high-quality international journals, conferences, and academic–industry collaborations.

Skills required:
Essential:
Strong fundamentals in structural and earthquake engineering

Structural dynamics, seismic design,



and performance-based earthquake engineering. Proficiency in nonlinear static and nonlinear time-history analysis

Component-level load–deformation modelling, and material/structural nonlinearity.

Hands-on experience with OpenSees, SAP2000, ETABS, or equivalent.

Knowledge of seismic demand assessment, fragility analysis, uncertainty quantification, and resilience assessment.

Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or equivalent tools for numerical modelling, data analysis, and automation.

Solid analytical, problem-solving, scientific writing, communication, and independent research skills.

Desirable :
Experience in experimental earthquake engineering

Structural testing, and shake-table testing. Familiarity with fibre-based modelling,

Cyclic deterioration models, probabilistic seismic assessment

Monte Carlo simulation

Machine learning, and resilience-based design.

Knowledge of international seismic codes

Multidisciplinary collaboration

Research proposal development, and publication in high-quality international journals.
