Senior Software Engineer I (Full Stack) – OKRs

About the Role

Join Planview's Product Development team as a Senior Software Engineer I on the OKRs team. You will design, build, and evolve web applications using Python on the backend and React on the frontend, with a primary focus on backend (roughly 70% backend / 30% frontend).

You will own features from concept through deployment, contribute to technical strategy, and help build secure, scalable, and maintainable products. Working closely with Product, Design, and QA, you will also raise engineering quality through thoughtful code reviews, strong development practices, and mentorship.

What You'll Do

- Design and develop modern web applications using Python and React.
- Build RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs using Django, Flask, or FastAPI.
- Lead technical design discussions, create architecture documents, and drive decisions on scalability, security, performance, and maintainability.
- Own features end to end, from discovery and technical design through development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, QA, and other engineering teams to deliver high-quality customer outcomes.
- Conduct code reviews, promote engineering best practices, and mentor mid-level and junior engineers.
- Optimize performance across the stack, including frontend rendering, API latency, and database queries.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and contribute to cloud infrastructure, deployment automation, and observability.
- Identify and reduce technical debt, including leading modernization, refactoring, and migration initiatives.
- Participate in on-call rotations and incident response, and lead root-cause analysis for production issues.





What You'll Bring

Required

- 9–11 years of experience building and maintaining production-grade web applications, with strong expertise in Python (backend) and hands-on experience with React (frontend).
- Strong proficiency in Python and experience with Django, Flask, or FastAPI.
- Solid understanding of async programming, background job processing (e.g., Celery, RQ), API design, database design, and scalable backend architecture.
- Strong system design skills: ability to design scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems, make sound technical trade-offs, and translate business requirements into robust designs.
- Experience with React, including Hooks, Context, and state/data management using Redux, Zustand, or React Query.
- Proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
- Strong database fundamentals, including schema design, indexing, and query optimization with PostgreSQL and/or MySQL; experience with NoSQL technologies such as MongoDB and Redis.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD, Git workflows, and automated testing (Jest and React Testing Library on the frontend, PyTest on the backend).
- Practical knowledge of application security, including OAuth, JWT, and OWASP principles.
- Strong debugging, performance optimization, and code quality skills, with the ability to independently own technical problems.
- Clear communication skills,



with the ability to influence design decisions and work effectively across teams.

Nice to Have

- Experience with AWS.
- Experience with Next.js, server-side rendering, or micro-frontend architectures.
- Exposure to message queues and event streaming (Kafka, RabbitMQ, Amazon SQS).
- Knowledge of GraphQL.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (Datadog, Grafana, Sentry, ELK).
- Knowledge of AI/ML integration or Python data pipelines.
- Experience in SaaS, fintech, or enterprise product environments.
- Open-source contributions, technical blog posts, or conference talks.
