The Quality Inspector examines, measures, and tests automotive parts, inline assemblies, or post-service vehicles. The role focuses on identifying defects, preventing non-conforming items from progressing, and documenting quality metrics to maintain brand reliability.
Core Responsibilities
- Incoming & Line Inspection: Check raw materials, sub-assemblies, and incoming components against engineering blueprints and specifications.
- Inline & End-of-Line (EOL) Audits: Monitor vehicle assembly stages (mechanical, electrical, trim, and body) to ensure compliance with OEM standards.
- Precision Measurement & Testing: Operate measuring instruments such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, gauges, and Coordinate Measuring Machines
- Road & Functional Tests: Conduct authorized test drives or functional checks on brakes, steering, electrical systems, and powertrain performance.
- Defect & Non-Conformance Management: Document defects, tag non-conforming items, initiate hold/quarantine procedures, and log issues into the Non-Conformance Report (NCR) system.
- Root-Cause & Corrective Actions: Collaborate with production supervisors, mechanical technicians,
and engineers to analyze defects and prevent repeat failures (utilizing tools like Ishikawa or Lean Six Sigma).
- Documentation & Sign-off: Maintain accurate build records, inspection checklists, calibration logs, and pre-delivery inspection (PDI) sign-offs.
Key Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Diploma, ITI, or B.Tech/B.E. in Automobile Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience: 1 to 4 years of experience in automotive manufacturing, a component plant, or an authorized service/workshop environment.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in reading technical drawings, CAD schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Ability to handle precision measurement and QC tools.
- Working knowledge of Quality Management Systems (such as ISO 9001 or IATF 16949).
- Soft Skills: Solid attention to detail, analytical problem-solving, basic computer literacy for reporting, and clear communication to coordinate with shop-floor teams.
- License: A valid light-motor-vehicle/two-wheeler driving license is frequently required for road-testing vehicles.
If you are tailoring this for a specific role, let me know:
- Is this for vehicle manufacturing (OEM/assembly plant) or a service center/dealership (PDI/repair quality)?
- What years of experience or vehicle type (two-wheeler, passenger car, commercial) are you targeting?
Pay: ₹18,400.00 - ₹63,000.00 per month
