Functional and regression testing of applications running on IBM z/TPF, the high-volume real-time transaction processing platform used in airline systems.

Works across terminal-based (cryptic/green-screen) transactions, batch processes, mainframe data stores and the boundaries into distributed services.

Reading-level familiarity with Assembler, TPF/C or COBOL, sufficient to interpret code and traces

Exposure to TPF tooling, emulation utilities and multi-tier test/copy/production setting models.

Domain exposure in GDS and airline / travel transaction processing is must.

Hands-on IBM z/TPF or mainframe testing; comfort with green-screen terminal emulation and cryptic command entry.

Strong grounding in functional, regression and integration testing, test design techniques and defect root-cause analysis.

Validation against mainframe data stores - TPFDF, IDMS or DB2 - and ability to interpret record structures.

Batch and JCL job verification and output analysis.

4-12 years in software testing, with a minimum of 3 years hands-on on IBM z/TPF and mainframe (z/OS) platforms.

Hands-on UFT automation experience

Analyse requirements, change requests and application documentation to design test scenarios, test cases and traceability coverage for TPF-hosted transactions.

Execute functional, regression, integration and negative-path testing across terminal-emulation and structured-data channels.





Validate transaction inputs, entry formats and system responses, confirming correct business outcomes rather than identical screen presentation.

Verify batch and JCL job execution, outputs, return codes and downstream file generation.

Perform data-integrity validation against mainframe databases, including record layouts and reference tables.

Test TPF-to-distributed integration points and isolate defects across the mainframe / non-mainframe boundary.

Build, maintain and execute automated regression suites; identify manual regression candidates suitable for automation.

Set up and maintain test environments, emulator sessions, test data and script/output repositories.

Capture diagnostic evidence, log and classify defects, route to the correct owner and drive resolution to closure.

Produce release-quality artefacts - test evidence, execution reports, quality assessments and sign-off records - in the test management tool.

Support release cycles, smoke validation, early-life support and post-implementation review.
