Job Summary
Litmos is looking for a Mobile Developer to help evolve our iOS and Android applications. You will work across our existing native apps (Swift and Kotlin), build new features in React Native, and own the WebView experience that brings Litmos learning content into the mobile apps. This is a hands-on role for an engineer who is comfortable moving between native code, React Native, and web content, and who cares about a smooth learner experience on mobile.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain mobile features in React Native for iOS and Android.
- Extend and support our existing native iPhone (Swift) and Android (Kotlin) apps, including hosting React Native screens within them.
- Own WebView-based experiences such as embedded LMS and course content: authentication and session handling, native-to-web communication (JavaScript bridges), deep links, file handling, and performance.
- Contribute to the plan for consolidating native and cross-platform code, helping decide what moves to React Native and what stays native.
- Implement new mobile capabilities such as push notifications, offline support, biometric login, and device permissions.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and manage App Store and Google Play releases, including versioning, signing, and phased rollouts.
- Write unit and integration tests, review code, debug production issues, and monitor app stability and crash reports.
- Collaborate with product, design, QA, and backend teams in an Agile environment.
Required Qualifications
- 3-5 years of skilled mobile development experience.
- Solid hands-on experience with React Native and TypeScript/JavaScript in shipped production apps.
- Strong understanding of WebViews on iOS and Android: loading and securing web content, cookies and sessions, JS bridges, navigation, and debugging web content inside apps.
- Experience publishing and maintaining apps in the App Store and Google Play.
- Familiarity with mobile CI/CD (e.g., Fastlane, GitHub Actions, Bitrise, or similar) and release management.
- Experience consuming REST APIs and handling authentication (OAuth/SSO, token management).
- Good communication skills and the ability to work in a distributed team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of Swift (UIKit/SwiftUI, WKWebView) and Kotlin (Android SDK, Android WebView).
- Experience with native modules / bridging native code to React Native.
- Experience integrating React Native into existing native apps (brownfield).
- Experience with e-learning content (SCORM, xAPI) or LMS platforms.
- Mobile accessibility and performance optimization experience.
- Experience with mobile security practices and app analytics/crash tools.
Success in the First Year
- Independently delivering React Native features and WebView improvements to production.
- Reduced WebView-related defects and improved learner experience on mobile.
- Reliable, repeatable release process for both iOS and Android.
- Meaningful contribution to the native vs. React Native roadmap.
