Reports to: Head of R&I;, Forest Essentials (matrixed to Director, Clinical & Claims GCCS)

Qualifications

Education: Master’s or PhD in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Cosmetic Science,

Pharmacy or related field. PhD preferred.

Experience

6–10 years in Claim substantiation / clinical and/or consumer testing in cosmetics, personal care, or related industry

Experience working on cross-functional product development teams

Strong knowledge of clinical & consumer testing methodologies and Claims substantiation principles.

Ability to:

o Analyze data and draw scientifically sound conclusions

o Translate science into clear, consumer-relevant claims

o Manage multiple projects simultaneously

Demonstrated strong communication and collaboration skills

Position Summary

The R&I; Manager –Clinical & Claims is responsible for leading the claims substantiation

strategy and execution for the Forest Essentials brand, serving as the primary scientific

claim liaison between R&I; and Brand teams in India.

This role combines hands-on scientific leadership, team management, and brand-level

accountability (claim strategy and support execution).

The incumbent ensures that all product claims are scientifically robust, consumer relevant, aligned with brand positioning, and compliant with local and global regulatory

standards.

They will oversee a small team (1–3 scientists) and be accountable for delivering end-to-end claims support for the brand’s innovation and commercial pipeline.

Key Responsibilities

1. Brand Claims Strategy & Delivery

Own the claims support strategy for Forest Essentials across New Product Launches (NPL),

renovation and commercial innovation. Translate brand concepts into clear, differentiated, cutting-edge, and technically/scientifically supportable claims frameworks. Define testing strategies (clinical, consumer, instrumental, literature) aligned to brand needs.



Ensure delivery of robust substantiation dossiers and final claim language.

2. Team Leadership & Coaching

Manage and develop a team of claim scientists (1–3 direct reports). Prioritize workload and ensure efficient allocation of resources across projects. Provide scientific guidance, coaching on claims development and data interpretation. Build capability and consistency within the India claims hub.

3. Brand Liaison & Cross-Functional Leadership

Act as the primary R&I; contact for claims for the Forest Essentials brand Partner closely with Brand Marketing (India & global interface as needed), R&I; Product Development / Formulation, Global Clinical Operations & Consumer Science, Regulatory, and Legal Marketing. Lead alignment discussions on claim positioning, testing scope, risk and trade-offs.

4. Project Execution & Delivery Excellence

Oversee end-to-end execution of claims support across multiple concurrent projects. Ensure alignment with launch timelines, high-quality study design and execution, timely delivery of results and claims. Identify risks proactively and implement mitigation strategies.

5. Scientific Interpretation & Communication

Translate complex scientific data into clear, compelling, and compliant claims and actionable insights for brand teams. Develop and review claims dossiers and technical summaries and presentations. Support internal storytelling to ensure strong linkage between science and brand narrative. Support credentialing efforts with professionals.

6. Compliance & Claims Integrity

Ensure all claims meet local and global regulatory and advertising standards. Partner with Legal and Regulatory to ensure claims are substantiated, defensible and non-misleading Guide claim risk and acceptable boundaries.

7. Efficiency, Innovation & External Lens

Identify opportunities to leverage existing data/formula / literature, optimize testing strategies and cost Stay current on competitive claims landscape and emerging test methods and technologies. Contribute to continuous improvement of claims processes in India
