Desktop Engineer (C#/.NET WPF Developer)
Role Summary:
We are seeking a talented Desktop Engineer with 4-6 years of experience in developing Windows desktop applications using C#, .NET, WPF, XAML, and MVVM. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, and maintaining high-quality desktop applications while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, user-friendly, and performant solutions. This role requires the ability to work independently, contribute to technical discussions, and drive feature delivery throughout the software development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain Windows desktop applications using C#, .NET, WPF, and XAML.
- Implement and maintain robust application architectures following the MVVM pattern and software engineering best practices.
- Develop reusable UI components and responsive user interfaces that provide an excellent user experience.
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application defects, performance issues, and production incidents.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following coding standards and development guidelines.
- Create and execute unit tests to ensure application quality and reliability.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Optimize application performance, memory usage, and responsiveness.
- Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, QA engineers, and other developers to deliver project milestones.
- Support software deployment, release activities, and application maintenance.
- Maintain technical documentation, design specifications, and user guides as needed.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and recommend improvements to existing systems and processes.
Required Skills
- 4-6 years of hands-on experience in software development with C# and .NET Framework/.NET.
- Strong experience developing desktop applications using WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation).
- Proficiency in XAML for UI design and development.
- Solid understanding and practical experience with the MVVM architectural pattern.
- Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and design patterns.
- Experience with data binding, commands, converters, styles, templates, and resource dictionaries in WPF.
- Proficiency in debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
- Experience with source control systems such as Git or Azure DevOps Repos.
- Knowledge of unit testing frameworks such as MSTest, NUnit, or xUnit.
- Familiarity with REST APIs and integration with backend services.
- Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Dependency Injection frameworks and IoC containers.
- Knowledge of design patterns such as Factory, Singleton, Observer, and Repository.
- Experience with asynchronous programming, multithreading, and task-based programming.
- Familiarity with performance profiling and memory optimization techniques.
- Experience with installer technologies such as MSI, WiX Toolset, or ClickOnce.
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.
- Experience working with SQL Server and writing database queries.
- Knowledge of Prism, Caliburn.Micro, or similar WPF frameworks.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
- Experience with logging and monitoring frameworks such as Serilog, NLog, or log4net.
- Exposure to automated UI testing tools and practices.
Experience and Education
- Bachelor's degree in BE/BTech, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
- 5+ years of qualified experience developing and supporting desktop applications using Microsoft technologies.
