Job Title: Principal Software Architect / Lead Architect (Rust, Python & DevOps)
Location: [Bangalore/chennai/hyderabad, Remote / Hybrid]
Employment Type: Full-Time
Department: Engineering & Technical Architecture
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Software Architect to define, shape, and evolve our end-to-end system architecture. In this role, you will lead the architectural vision across high-throughput distributed systems, performant core engines, and cloud-native infrastructure.
You will work at the intersection of low-level systems engineering (Rust), rapid service deployment and data orchestration (Python), and scalable cloud infrastructure (DevOps / IaC). You will set technical benchmarks, establish engineering standards, and partner directly with engineering leadership to align technical roadmap with core business goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Architectural Leadership & System Strategy:
- Define and maintain the multi-year technology strategy, architecture guidelines, and system integration patterns across microservices, event streams, and data stores.
- Architect low-latency, memory-secure system modules in Rust for performance-critical engines and compute workloads.
- Design robust API platforms, orchestration layers, and data pipelines utilizing Python (FastAPI, Asyncio, Pytest).
- Establish cloud-native architectural patterns, ensuring security, high availability, fault tolerance, and cost optimization.
- DevOps, Infrastructure & Platform Engineering:
- Drive Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) standardizations using Terraform or Pulumi.
- Oversee production-grade container orchestration using Kubernetes, continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, and service mesh topologies.
- Build end-to-end observability, tracing, and alerting strategies (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Datadog).
- Technical Governance & Engineering Excellence:
- Author and review Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) and lead formal system design reviews.
- Conduct technical spikes, create proof-of-concept (PoC) architectures, and evaluate emerging technologies.
- Establish security standards (zero-trust, IAM, secret rotation, threat modeling) across codebases and cloud infrastructure.
- Mentorship & Cross-Functional Alignment:
- Mentor staff and senior engineers, cultivating architectural thinking and engineering maturity across teams.
- Collaborate with Product, Security, and Business Operations to translate complex business objectives into clear technical execution plans.
Required Qualifications
- Experience:
- 8+ years of progressive software engineering experience, with 3+ years in a Principal, Staff, or Software Architect role owning production systems at scale.
- Core Technical Expertise:
- Rust: Hands-on mastery of async runtimes (Tokio, Axum/Actix), memory safety models, concurrency primitives,
FFI, and performance tuning.
- Python: Deep expertise in async architectures, system tooling, API framework design, and scientific/data engine integration.
- Systems Design: Extensive track record designing distributed systems, event-driven architectures (Kafka, RabbitMQ, NATS), and high-concurrency storage systems (PostgreSQL, NoSQL, Redis).
- Cloud & DevOps Architecture:
- Advanced knowledge of multi-region deployment strategies on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Deep experience with Kubernetes, Helm, service meshes (Istio/Linkerd), and GitOps pipelines (ArgoCD/Flux).
- Hands-on proficiency with Terraform/Pulumi and modern cloud security architectures.
- Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with low-level system profiling, Linux kernel configuration, eBPF, or hardware-level optimization.
- Prior experience executing large-scale platform migrations (e.g., monolith to microservices, multi-cloud migrations, or cloud cost optimizations).
- Active participation in open-source communities or track record of published technical work/whitepapers.
What We Offer
- Highly competitive executive salary, equity grants, and performance bonuses.
- Comprehensive health, dental, and disability coverage.
- Flexible work arrangements (Remote / Hybrid flexibility).
- Dedicated budget for research, tech conferences, and certifications.
- Generous paid leave policy and sabbatical options.
