About the role
We are hiring an experienced legal qualified to support the US Legal Department of one of the largest student housing owners, managers and developers in the United States. You will work closely with US-based attorneys, business leaders and outside counsel, and independently own legal work delivered from Bengaluru across commercial contracts, property operations, regulatory research and legal operations.

Key responsibilities

- Independently draft, review, negotiate and finalise vendor, service, consulting, procurement and confidentiality agreements using approved playbooks and templates
- Escalate non-standard or higher-risk terms to US Legal leadership
- Own contract administration, including amendments, renewals and extensions
- Handle lease agreements, landlord-tenant and property operations matters, and review resident-facing documents
- Oversee research and tracking of federal,



state and local laws affecting residential rental housing, and drive updates to forms and policies
- Manage outside counsel, matters and legal spend, including invoice review
- Support privacy, litigation, insurance claims and risk matters
- Work with property operations, Finance, HR, Risk and senior business leaders
- Guide junior team members and lead legal operations improvements (templates, matter tracking, legal technology and AI tools)

Candidate profile

- LLB or equivalent; 12-15 years of relevant legal experience
- Strong independent contract drafting and negotiation experience
- Experience supporting US or global legal teams and stakeholders
- Exposure to real estate, leasing or property operations (preferred)
- Experience managing outside counsel
- Strong legal research, writing and communication skills
- Legal operations or contract management tool experience (preferred)
