Job Summary

Were building a contractor pool of cloud experts to support our School of Cloud. The School of Cloud currently has courses covering the following three cloud providers: AWS, Azure, and GCP. Primary topics include, but are not limited to: Cloud Engineering, Cloud DevOps, Cloud Architect, Site Reliability, Cloud Native Architect, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, etc.), Kubernetes, Docker, and AI Services on Cloud (Bedrock, SageMaker, Vertex AI, Azure AI Services).

Understanding Our Learning Infrastructure

To effectively maintain and update our cloud courses, youll need to understand how students interact with our content. Our courses use two key technologies:

- Udacity Workspaces For practitioner content, we provide in-classroom workspaces so students dont need to install or purchase any tools or set up environments locally. These workspaces are Docker containers running in Kubernetes, and students access them directly in the classroom page through their browser. There are different types: Jupyter, VS Code, SQL, and Web Terminal. These workspaces need continuous updates and patching, and the exercises/project starter code must be updated to remain compatible with the updated workspace.
- Udacity Cloud Labs We also provide temporary access to various cloud services providers via Cloud Labs. Cloud Labs are federated accounts allowing students to use AWS Console, GCP Console, or Azure Portal using temporary credentials. These cloud labs are pre-configured with RBAC and policies. Sometimes, we pre-create several resources via Infrastructure as Code to provision the resources required for an exercise or project.

Responsibilities

- Analyze course performance metrics to identify content requiring updates
- Review student feedback at scale to prioritize actionable improvements
- Bug-fixes: Address student-reported issues by updating or enhancing existing course materials. This includes:
- Update classroom instructions to reflect the latest cloud service features and UI changes (AWS console,

Azure portal, GCP console)
- Updating the (Python/NodeJS) code and outdated dependencies in the exercises and project starter code.

- Enhancements: Update the course content to the latest tools and technologies. This will include updating the text, screenshots, instructions, tutorials, exercises, and the project.
- Update Udacity Workspaces:

- Installing the updated Python packages in the existing workspaces
- Updating the exercises and project starter code to support newer programming environments (e.g., upgrade from Python 3.6 to Python 3.12)

- Test the Cloud Labs

- Verify whether the necessary cloud services required for all exercises in the course are enabled in the cloud labs.
- Troubleshooting student access issues and permission-related problems in federated cloud accounts (AWS, Azure, and GCP)

Required Skill Set

- Robust understanding of popular services in two of the following clouds - AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Familiar with services like compute, database, networking, storage, backup, container, and Kubernetes.
- Familiar with any one CICD tool, preferably CircleCI or Github Actions.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker)
- Must have at least 2 years of software development experience, preferably in Javascript (any framework) or Python.
- Experience working with version control systems (Git/GitHub)
- Ability to debug and update Python-based exercises and projects.
- Strong troubleshooting skills to resolve student-reported issues efficiently.
- Excellent written communication skills for documenting changes and providing clear instructions
- Ability to write world-class instructional artifacts, such as technical documentation, just like the official documents from AWS, Microsoft Azure, or GCP.
- Strong attention to detail with a student-first mindset.
- Architect-level certification is a plus
