Job Description: Occupational Therapist

Reports to: HOD - Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Services

Primary Focus Areas:

- Adult Neurological Rehabilitation
- Upper Extremity Strengthening
- Cognitive Training
- Activities of Daily Living (ADL) Training

Key Responsibilities:

1. Patient Evaluation:

- Conduct detailed assessments of adult patients with neurological and orthopedic impairments.
- Evaluate upper limb strength, range of motion, coordination, cognitive function, and ADL performance.

2. Upper Extremity Rehabilitation:

- Design and implement therapeutic interventions to improve upper limb strength, fine motor coordination, and functional use of hands.
- Use task-specific training, resistive exercises, and neuromuscular re-education techniques.

3. Cognitive Training:

- Provide structured cognitive therapy for patients with deficits in attention, memory, problem-solving, and executive function.
- Integrate functional cognitive tasks into therapy sessions to improve real-life outcomes.

4. ADL Training:

- Train patients in basic and instrumental activities of daily living (e.g., dressing,



grooming, toileting, feeding).
- Promote independence through adaptive techniques and assistive device recommendations.

5. Documentation & Progress Monitoring:

- Maintain detailed therapy records, set functional goals, and document patient progress.
- Modify treatment plans based on progress and patient needs.

6. Caregiver and Patient Education:

- Educate patients and caregivers on home-based exercises and strategies to maintain therapy outcomes.
- Provide guidance on ergonomics, energy conservation, and safety techniques.

7. Team Collaboration:

- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team including physiotherapists, speech therapists, and doctors for coordinated patient care.

8. Therapy Tools & Modalities:

- Utilize therapeutic tools such as therabands, pegs, cones, cognitive worksheets, and ADL simulation kits.

Qualifications

Bachelor/masters in Occupational Therapist

Experience

0 - 2 years in similar field
