Role & responsibilities

Wind O&M; Technician , Engineer, Sr. Engineer (BOP & PSS) -

Experience: 2-8 years
Qualification: ITI / Diploma - Electrical

Daily Rounds

- Check turbine SCADA status and generation trend vs wind resource
- BOP equipment (transformers, switchgear, cables) - visual + audible checks
- PSS (Power Substation) equipment: transformer oil temp/level, breaker status, relay indications
- Note any tripped feeder/breaker and reason before resetting

Preventive Maintenance

- HT/LT panel PM: tightness checks, cleaning, thermography
- Transformer PM: oil sampling (as per schedule), Buchholz relay check, breather silica gel condition
- Breaker PM: contact resistance, mechanism greasing, trip/close timing test
- Cable trench/pit inspection for water ingress or damage

Fault Troubleshooting & Restoration

- Get exact fault code/alarm from SCADA before dispatch




- Common BOP faults: cable faults, transformer protection trips, breaker mechanism failure
- Restore only after root cause is identified - don't just reset and walk away
- Document downtime, cause and corrective action for MIS/reporting

Reporting

- Daily generation report, downtime log and PM/BM records - update without delay
- Escalate repeat faults immediately (pattern = bigger issue brewing)

Safety

- PTW mandatory for HT equipment work
- LOTO on all isolation points, verify zero energy state before touching
- Confirm switching sequence with control room before any operation
- Never enter PSS switchyard without authorization and proper PPE
