Job Description – Garment Merchant

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Garment Merchant to manage the complete merchandising process from product development and sampling to production, quality control, and final shipment. The candidate will coordinate closely with buyers, designers, production, sourcing, and vendors to ensure timely delivery of quality products as per buyer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

- Handle end-to-end merchandising activities for garment orders.
- Communicate with buyers regarding product requirements, specifications, timelines, and approvals.
- Coordinate with the design and product development teams for current styles and collections.
- Prepare and maintain Tech Packs, BOMs, measurement charts, TNA, costing sheets, and order sheets.
- Coordinate with fabric, trims, accessories, and other raw material suppliers.
- Follow up on fabric and trims development, approvals, and deliveries.
- Manage sample development, including proto samples, fit samples, size sets, and pre-production samples.
- Ensure samples are developed and submitted within the agreed timelines.
- Coordinate with production teams to ensure orders are executed as per approved samples and specifications.
- Monitor production status and proactively identify delays or production issues.
- Conduct regular follow-ups with factories and vendors.




- Coordinate with the quality team to ensure required quality standards are maintained.
- Track order quantities, production progress, packing, and shipment schedules.
- Ensure all buyer comments and approvals are properly documented and implemented.
- Maintain accurate records of orders, approvals, production status, and shipment details.
- Work closely with the sourcing team to achieve competitive costing and timely material procurement.
- Resolve day-to-day issues related to production, quality, sampling, and delivery.
- Ensure timely dispatch of finished goods as per buyer deadlines.

Required Skills

- Strong knowledge of garment manufacturing and merchandising processes.
- Good understanding of fabrics, trims, garments, construction, and finishing.
- Knowledge of sampling, costing, production, quality, and shipment processes.
- Strong follow-up and coordination skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Good knowledge of TNA, BOM, Tech Packs, POs, and production tracking.
- Ability to manage multiple styles/orders simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines.
- Good working knowledge of MS Excel and MS Office.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with buyers, vendors, factories, designers, and internal teams.

Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
