Job Summary

We are looking for a detail-oriented QC Engineer with experience in quality inspection, fabrication, welding, dimensional inspection, assembly, load testing, and quality documentation for EOT cranes, material handling equipment, and weighbridges.

Key Responsibilities

1. In-Process Inspection & Fabrication Quality

- Inspect cutting, fabrication, and welding activities as per approved drawings and specifications.
- Verify dimensions, tolerances, joint preparation, fit-up, and alignment.
- Monitor welding parameters as per approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
- Identify welding defects such as cracks, porosity, undercut, overlap, and slag inclusion.

2. Welding Quality & NDT Inspection

- Perform visual inspection of welded joints and verify weld size and quality.
- Coordinate and verify NDT activities, including Dye Penetrant Testing (DPT/DP) and Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI).
- Ensure compliance with applicable quality standards and approved specifications.

3. Assembly Inspection – Crane & MHE

- Inspect sub-assemblies as per Bill of Materials (BOM), General Arrangement (GA), and fabrication drawings.
- Inspect CT/LT wheel assemblies, end carriages, wheelbase, wheel alignment, and levels.
- Verify crane span, diagonal measurements, girder alignment, and structural fitment.
- Inspect crab and hoist assemblies, including component fitment, alignment,



and fastening.

4. Load Testing & Functional Testing

- Perform or coordinate crane load testing as per applicable standards and customer requirements.
- Verify hoisting, cross travel, long travel, brakes, limit switches, and safety devices.
- Maintain test reports and ensure inspection clearance before dispatch.

5. Surface Preparation & Painting Inspection

- Inspect grinding, cleaning, and surface preparation before painting.
- Ensure removal of rust, oil, welding spatter, and sharp edges.
- Inspect painted surfaces for finish, uniformity, peeling, sagging, and other defects.
- Measure and verify Dry Film Thickness (DFT) as per approved specifications.

6. Quality Documentation & Traceability

- Prepare and maintain project-wise dimensional inspection and quality reports.
- Maintain material test certificates (TCs), supplier QC certificates, NDT reports, welding records, load test reports, manuals, and history cards.
- Ensure material traceability with batch details and project numbers.
- Maintain quality records for customer inspections, internal/external audits, and future reference.




- Coordinate with production and QA/QC teams for corrective actions and closure of inspection observations.

7. Weighbridge Quality Inspection

- Carry out in-process quality inspections during weighbridge manufacturing.
- Inspect welding quality and verify load cell centre positioning as per approved requisitions and drawings.
- Inspect grinding, surface finishing, and cleaning after fabrication.
- Perform visual inspection after painting and verify DFT as per specifications.
- Prepare weighbridge inspection reports and maintain project-wise quality records.

Required Skills

- Knowledge of fabrication, welding inspection, and dimensional measurement.
- Understanding of engineering drawings, GA drawings, BOM, and technical specifications.
- Knowledge of crane assemblies, end carriages, hoists, and wheel alignment.
- Familiarity with load testing, NDT coordination, and painting/DFT inspection.
- Positive documentation, reporting, and coordination skills.
- Ability to identify quality issues and ensure corrective actions.

Qualification

Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline.

Experience

Relevant experience in QC inspection, fabrication, welding, EOT cranes, material handling equipment, or weighbridge manufacturing preferred.
