To assist the Nursing Superintendent in supervising and coordinating all nursing activities, ensuring the highest quality of patient care, effective staffing, and compliance with hospital standards. The Deputy Nursing Superintendent acts as the second-in-command of the nursing administration and takes charge in the absence of the Nursing Superintendent.

Key Responsibilities

1. Staffing & Duty Roster

· Assist in preparing and monitoring duty rosters for nursing staff across all departments.

· Ensure adequate staffing in wards, ICU, OT, OPD, and emergency areas.

· Manage last-minute changes in shifts due to absenteeism or emergencies.

· Support Nursing Superintendent in manpower planning as per NABH/INC standards.

2. Nursing Administration

· Supervise daily nursing operations in coordination with ward in-charges and senior staff.

· Ensure compliance with hospital policies, nursing protocols, and infection control practices.

· Conduct regular rounds to monitor patient care and nursing performance.

3. Staff Supervision & Development

· Guide in-charges in managing their teams effectively.

· Assist in orientation and induction of newly recruited nursing staff.





· Support in planning training programs, workshops, and skill development activities.

4. Quality & Patient Care

· Monitor adherence to patient safety protocols and quality standards.

· Address patient complaints related to nursing care and escalate when needed.

· Ensure proper communication and handover practices between shifts.

5. Documentation & Reporting

· Maintain records of staff attendance, leave, and roster adjustments.

· Assist in preparing nursing department reports for management review.

· Document incidents, audits, and feedback for continuous improvement.

6. Administrative Support

· Act as the first point of contact for nursing staff regarding duty issues and operational concerns.

· Represent the Nursing Superintendent in meetings when delegated.

· Coordinate with doctors, allied health teams, and hospital administration for smooth workflow.
