Finance Executive – Accounts Payable

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Finance Executive – Accounts Payable to join our finance team and support accounting operations for an Australian business.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day Accounts Payable activities, processing supplier invoices and payments, reconciling accounts, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting month-end accounting processes.

This is a fully remote position, and the candidate will work closely with the Australian finance and management teams.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage the end-to-end Accounts Payable (AP) process.
- Receive, verify and process supplier invoices accurately and on time.
- Match invoices with purchase orders, receipts and supporting documents.
- Ensure invoices are correctly coded and allocated to the appropriate accounts.
- Prepare and process supplier payments in accordance with company procedures.
- Perform supplier statement reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate supplier and vendor records.
- Follow up with suppliers regarding outstanding invoices, credits and payment queries.
- Assist with bank and account reconciliations.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Assist with preparation of financial reports and accounting schedules.
- Maintain proper documentation and records for audit purposes.
- Ensure transactions are processed in accordance with company policies and Australian accounting requirements.
- Assist the finance team with other accounting and administrative tasks when required.

Australian Accounting Experience





Experience working with Australian accounting practices will be highly regarded.

Knowledge of the following will be an advantage:

- Australian GST
- BAS and GST coding
- Australian supplier invoices
- Australian business accounting practices
- Accounts Payable and supplier reconciliations
- Australian financial year and month-end processes

Requirements

- 2–5 years of relevant experience in Accounts Payable / Finance / Accounting.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and AP processes.
- Experience using accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, SAP, NetSuite, Odoo or similar ERP/accounting systems.
- Positive knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work according to Australian business hours.

Preferred

- Previous experience working with an Australian company or Australian clients.
- Experience with Xero or MYOB.
- Knowledge of Australian GST and BAS processes.
- Experience handling multiple suppliers and high-volume invoice processing.
- Experience working with remote/international finance teams.
