Our client is a Multinational Company having manufacturing plants in 10 countries. They have a Fertilizer plant which is about 110 Kms. from Kolkata. The position is based at the Plant.

They are looking for a dynamic and result-oriented Head - Procurement to lead the Company's procurement, sourcing, inventory management, and supplier relationship functions. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring uninterrupted availability of materials, goods, and services required for Project , Manufacturing, Trading, and Business Operations at competitive market-benchmarked prices while maintaining optimum inventory levels and working capital efficiency.

The role will also support emerging and strategic business units, developing scalable sourcing strategies, supplier & Customer networks, and procurement capabilities aligned with the Company's growth plans & business objectives.

Responsibilities

i) Strategic Planning :

- Contributing to Long-Term Strategy: Collaborate with the executive leadership team to develop procurement strategies aligned with the Company's business objectives, growth plans, and profitability goals.
- Setting Objectives and Targets: Establish measurable procurement KPIs and performance targets aligned with organizational objectives.
- Sourcing Optimization: Develop and implement innovative, cost-effective sourcing strategies focusing on supply continuity, cost competitiveness, supplier diversification, and sustainability.

ii) Budgeting and Reporting :

- Managing Budgets: Develop, manage, and control procurement budgets while driving sustainable cost savings, value creation, and working capital improvement.
- Preparing Reports: Generate periodic procurement reports and management dashboards highlighting procurement performance and key business metrics.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct spend analysis, savings analysis, and procurement ROI assessments to support strategic decision-making.
- Business Performance Reporting: Track and report procurement savings, supplier performance, inventory health, working capital improvements, procurement efficiency metrics, and risk indicators.

iii) Supplier Management :

- Developing Supplier Relationships: Build and maintain strategic, long-term relationships with suppliers and service providers. Continuously identify, evaluate, qualify, and onboard new suppliers to promote healthy competition, mitigate supply risks, and reduce procurement costs., having expertise in supplier master & MSME Vendor Management
- Negotiating Contracts: Negotiate favorable commercial terms including pricing, payment terms, credit periods, delivery schedules, service commitments, and annual contracts to maximize business value and improve working capital efficiency.
- Monitoring Supplier Performance: Develop and implement a Vendor Performance Scorecard with weighted parameters including cost competitiveness, product quality, delivery performance, responsiveness, compliance, innovation support, and service levels. Conduct periodic supplier evaluations and improvement programs.
- Contract Review and Governance: Periodically review supplier agreements and contracts to ensure commercial viability, competitiveness, compliance, and risk mitigation , having adequate expertise in legal aspects of Materials Management and finalisation of contract at minimum risk & exposure to Company.

iv) Sourcing , Procurement & Contract (P2P & S2C) :

- Managing Procurement Operations: Oversee end-to-end procurement activities (both domestic & import) includes sourcing, vendor selection, tendering,



benchmark negotiation for cost saving & reduction, contracting, and purchase order management.
- Procurement of goods & services such as inputs, Opex., Capex., minor chemicals, packaging materials (PP Bags for fertilizer packaging), fuel, refractory, engineering spares, administrative safety & environment related accessories, utility & energy components & etc.
- Procurement Channel Optimization: Optimize procurement channels to improve service levels, reduce lead times, and enhance procurement efficiency.
- Procurement Performance : Monitoring: Monitor procurement KPIs and implement corrective actions to improve effectiveness and productivity.
- Material Availability Management: Ensure uninterrupted availability of required materials, goods, and services for Manufacturing, Trading, and Business Operations at competitive market-benchmarked prices.
- Purchase Order Governance: Review and approve purchase orders within delegated authority limits and ensure timely execution and delivery of goods and services.
- Lead contract management activities providing end-to- end oversight, drive contracting strategy implementation, ensure strong governance, mitigate risks and enable seamless execution of contractual obligation across project & business unit, having adequate knowledge and rich experience in formulation of contracts for engineering services(civil, mechanical, structural, electrical & Instrumentation) , Job contracts. manpower, security, firefighting, administrative , canteen services, environment, Q.C Lab, product & materials handling, ARC,AMC, Finalisation of SOR , Project Contracts such as EPC , LSTK ,I & C & etc.

v) Inventory Management :

- Inventory Planning and Control: Develop and implement inventory management strategies for Raw Materials (RM), Packing Materials (PM), Finished Goods (FG), Consumables, and MRO Items across manufacturing plants, ports, warehouses, and field locations.
- Inventory Systems Management: Utilize ERP and inventory management systems to ensure real-time inventory visibility and control.
- Inventory Performance Monitoring: Monitor inventory turnover, ageing, stock coverage, slow-moving inventory, and stock-out risks.
- Inventory Optimization: Establish inventory norms and replenishment models to improve inventory productivity and working capital utilization.
- Physical Verification and Reconciliation: Ensure periodic physical verification and reconciliation of inventory across all storage locations and drive corrective actions for inventory variances.

vii) Risk Management & Audit Compliance:

- Procurement Risk Identification: Identify supplier, commercial, market, operational, geopolitical, regulatory, and logistics risks.
- Risk Mitigation: Develop mitigation plans and alternate sourcing strategies to ensure business continuity.
- Continuous Risk Monitoring: Monitor emerging risks and proactively initiate preventive measures.
- Contract and Supplier Risk Assessment: Conduct commercial and operational risk assessments of major contracts, sourcing arrangements, and supplier engagements.
- Audit Compliance: Guide to follow all procurement & materials mgmt.



process strictly aligned with DOA and to avoid non-compliances.
- Provide guidance in preparing responses to specific audit queries & action plan to mitigate the observation if any.
- Lead analysis the audit findings at Site & ensure the corrective actions are taken to address identified gaps.

viii) Technology and Innovation .

- Procurement Systems Management: Oversee procurement, inventory, shipment tracking, supplier management, and ERP SAP MM Module /S/4HANA systems to improve visibility, compliance, and decision-making.
- Leveraging Analytics: Utilize analytics and business intelligence tools to improve procurement effectiveness and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Driving Innovation: Explore innovative sourcing models, digital procurement tools, and best practices to enhance operational excellence.

ix) Sustainability and Compliance :

- Promoting Sustainability: Develop and implement sustainable procurement practices focusing on resource efficiency, environmental responsibility, and long-term value creation.
- Ensuring Compliance: Ensure all procurement activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, internal policies, and quality standards.
- Maintaining Transparency: Maintain integrity, transparency, and ethical standards in all procurement activities and supplier interactions.
- SOP Development: List all critical activities within the overall function and sub-functions, develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and ensure adherence to the same.

x) Logistics (inbound & outbound) & SCM

- Lead end-to-end logistic functions (inbound & outbound) including cargo planning, storage, distribution, developing strategies for cost effective solutions, service improvement, freight optimisation & customer logistics solutions of imported consignment.
- Define scope of work for handling & transportation services engaged in road & rail logistics. Conduct tenders and finalize contracts for seamless transportation of RM & finished products.
- Plan, manage, & control all logistics-related activities, including freight negotiation and co-ordination with major transporters, port offices, C&F; Agents, shipping lines & freight forwarders right from order placement to shipment delivery, ensuring quality services.

xi) Collaboration with Other Functions

- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Finance, Production, Commercial, Logistics, and Supply Chain teams to ensure alignment of procurement strategies and business objectives.
- Providing Procurement Insights: Provide procurement insights and recommendations to support business planning, budgeting, product development, and operational decision-making.
- Supporting Business Goals: Ensure procurement initiatives directly contribute to organizational growth, profitability, and operational excellence.
- iv. Strategic Business Enablement: Partner with emerging business units and current ventures to establish sourcing strategies, supplier ecosystems, procurement processes, and supply continuity plans that support business scale-up and commercialization.

xii) Team Leadership :

- Building a High-Performing Team: Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing procurement team while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Providing Performance Feedback: Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and support professional development of team members.
- Encouraging Innovation: Encourage new ideas, best practices, and process improvements to enhance procurement effectiveness.
