We are looking for someone who designs websites that work as businesses, not just as pages. That means understanding what a company sells, who buys it, and what that buyer needs to see, feel and believe before they act. The technical craft matters, but it serves that.
What you'll own
- Understanding the business before designing for it. What it sells, how it makes money, who the buyers are, what worries them, and what earns their trust. Every design decision you make should trace back to this.
- Designing for the buyer's psychology. A procurement head evaluating a B2B vendor needs proof, credibility and reassurance. A consumer comparing options on their phone needs clarity, speed and desire. You will know which job each page is doing, and design accordingly.
- Information architecture and conversion paths. Structure, navigation and content hierarchy that move a visitor from first impression to the action that matters, whether that is a demo request, an enquiry or a purchase.
- The visual design system. Typography, colour, components and responsive layouts that hold together across every page, not just the homepage.
- Designing for findability, speed and maintainability. SEO-friendly page structure, CDN-aware asset delivery, and CMS templates that non-designers can edit without breaking the layout.
- A handoff that survives you. Documented components and usage notes, so the site stays coherent after the contract ends.
What we're looking for
- Websites that worked commercially. Send us live links, each with a sentence on the business problem it solved and what changed after launch. We weigh the thinking behind the work as heavily as how it looks.
- Range across B2B and B2C.
You can explain how designing for a considered, committee-driven B2B purchase differs from an emotional or impulse-led B2C decision, and show work that reflects both.
- A strong grasp of persuasion and trust. Visual hierarchy, message placement, social proof, objection handling and calls to action. Design as an argument, not decoration.
- Domain curiosity. The ability to learn an unfamiliar industry quick enough to design credibly for its customers within the first week.
- Mobile-first responsive craft, with accessibility basics treated as defaults rather than afterthoughts.
- Working technical fluency. How a CMS content model shapes design, SEO at the structural level, and CDN and performance fundamentals, including how to read a Lighthouse report.
- Copywriting instinct. You design words and layout together rather than leaving boxes for copy to fill later.
Signals that would move you to the top of the list
- Conversion results you can point to. A/B tests run, conversion rates improved, with numbers.
- AI-assisted design workflows. Hands-on use of tools like Claude Design to explore directions quickly. We care about your judgement in what you keep.
- You can build what you design. HTML and CSS, a CMS theme, or a production Webflow or Framer build. On a six-week timeline, a designer who can ship removes an entire handoff.
- Site migrations and analytics. Launching without losing search rankings, and planning tracking into the design rather than bolting it on.
What this role is not
It is not a visual-polish job where someone else decides what the site needs to say, and it is not a mockup-only engagement where someone else works out whether the design can be built. It is six weeks, full time, with a launch-ready website at the end.
