Facade Designer Roles & Responsibilities

Design & Planning

- Develop facade design concepts based on architectural intent and project requirements.
- Prepare facade layout drawings, elevations, sections, and detailed shop drawings.
- Coordinate facade systems such as curtain wall, ACP cladding, glazing, louvers, fins, and windows.
- Ensure facade design complies with project specifications, local codes, and safety standards.

Technical Coordination

- Coordinate with architects, structural consultants, MEP teams, and site engineers.
- Review IFC drawings, architectural drawings, and structural details.
- Support structural calculations and facade system feasibility.
- Resolve design clashes and technical issues during execution.

Material & System Selection

- Select suitable facade materials, profiles, glass specifications, and fixing systems.
- Verify material compatibility, thermal performance, waterproofing, and structural behaviour.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for technical approvals.

Shop Drawings & Documentation

- Prepare and revise fabrication drawings and installation drawings.
- Generate BOM (Bill of Materials) and cutting lists if required.
- Maintain drawing revisions and documentation records.
- Submit drawings for consultant/client approval.
- Track drawing approval status and maintain submission logs.
- Provide as-built drawings after project completion.

Site & Production Coordination

- Conduct site measurements and verify dimensions before releasing fabrication drawings.
- Coordinate with production team regarding profile cutting, assembly sequence, and fabrication limitations.
- Provide technical clarification to fabrication and installation teams.




- Attend site inspections and monitor facade installation quality.
- Review mock-ups and sample installations.
- Support issue resolution related to alignment, leakage, fixing, and dimensional variations.
- Coordinate glass sizes and material optimization to reduce wastage.
- Ensure proper tolerance management between civil opening and facade installation.
- Coordinate anchor locations and embed details with civil/structural teams.
- Verify facade interfaces with waterproofing, interiors, and adjacent cladding systems.

Quality & Compliance

- Ensure facade systems meet quality standards and approved drawings.
- Check compliance with wind load, structural, and performance requirements.
- Coordinate testing requirements such as water test, air infiltration, and structural performance tests.
- Assist QA/QC team during inspections and snag closure.
- Ensure all revisions are updated and circulated to concerned departments.

Planning & Project Support

- Support preparation of method statements and installation procedures.
- Participate in technical meetings with consultants and clients.
- Monitor design changes and evaluate their impact on cost and execution schedule.
- Support planning team with facade installation sequencing.
- Assist procurement team with technical specifications.
- Support value engineering and cost optimization.

Reporting Responsibilities

- Report design progress and technical issues to Project Coordinator / Project Manager.
- Coordinate approval status with consultants and clients.
- Follow up pending drawings, material approvals, and technical clarifications.
