Role Overview

Position: Senior Engineer – Mechanical Design (CTIS)

Reporting to: Deputy Manager - R&D; and Application Engineering

Education: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering

Work Experience: 4 – 8 yrs.

Job location: Vadodara, Gujarat.

Product Knowledge & Configuration

- Understand basic function & configuration rules of all SOV, Coil and Valve products.
- Create product string building rules of all standard catalogue products, NCPs, ETOs.
- Understand Marketing & Production codes, Item Code & Drawing Numbering System fully.

BOM & Drawing Management
- Correct/Modify Static BOMs in SAP under minimum supervision.
- Search/Create manufacturing drawings in Solidworks and release them in PDM, item codes and BOM in SAP etc.

Customer Interface
- Interface with customers for product requirements gathering, prepare requirements compliance report (TFSO), fill product specification sheet, create/review GA drawings and seek customer approval.

Design Execution
- Perform product design tasks like concept design, detailed design, modelling/drafting using Solidworks CAD, calculations, basic structural FEA using Solidworks Simulation, tolerance stack-up analysis, apply GD&T;, prepare DFMEA, prepare Item Codes, BOM etc independently.
- Perform benchmarking/Reverse Eng., VA/VE activities of products independently.
- Design products for - Form/Fit/Function, Mfg., Assembly, Reliability/Life, Cost, Service, EHS, etc. using DFSS tools with minimum supervision.
- Co-ordinate design verification thru CAE (CFD, Vibration,



Fatigue etc.) and/or POC testing.
- Understand various manufacturing processes and the tolerances, surface roughness/finishes that could be achieved using those processes and create manufacturing drawings based on it independently.
- Conduct design reviews (DFx) of new parts/products/systems with cross-functional team or suppliers and optimize the design based on their feedback independently.
- Prepare design documents required for various product certification with minimum supervision.

Validation & Testing
- Write test plan for complete design validation of a product/system (DVP) based on agreed specification/technical requirements, co-ordinate product assembly and testing activities with minimum supervision.

Project Management & Problem Solving
- Be the SPOC for all design projects and provide status updates/clarifications to PM/HOD/CFT members on regular basis.
- Resolve supplier / production / design validation / customer problems using 8D process (RCA and CAPA) and implement design changes thru ECRN process with minimum supervision.
- Maintain project folder as per applicable QMS system – ISO9001 / IATF 16949 and face internal and external audits with minimum supervision.
- Prioritize,



balance and manage multiple tasks with sense of urgency in changing setting.

Training & Development
- Train GETs and Design Engineers on product design and development activities.
- Learn about solenoid coil design, system design, electronics used and trouble shooting from SMEs.

Qualifications
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering
- M.E./M.Tech - Machine Design
- First class degree in B.E./B.Tech – Mechanical or Automotive Engineering

Experience Requirements
- 4–8 Years in related field

Additional Requirements
- 4 - 8 years of work experience in design and development of electro-mechanical products and/or systems for automotive applications
- Successfully developed at least one product based on benchmarking of an existing product and applying VA/VE principle
- Hands-on working experience in product design & development project activities including Compliance report preparation, concept design, detailed design, design verification thru POC/simulation, engineering calculations, mfg. deviations review, prototype build, complete design validation testing and production release as per APQP
- Led resolution of at least one supplier / production / design validation / customer problems using 8D process and RCA tools like Fishbone Diagram / Fault Tree Analysis / 5-Why analysis etc.
- Willing to travel to customer sites in India and abroad for fitment and functional trials of prototype systems (20% of the time)
