Job Summary

We are looking for an SAP ABAP on HANA professional who can build AI-native, HANA-optimized SAP applications and extensions by combining strong ABAP on HANA engineering with Agentic AI patterns such as LLMs, tools, retrieval, and evaluation.

The role focuses on delivering high-performance, cloud-ready, production-grade solutions using HANA pushdown principles, modern ABAP, and governed AI capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

ABAP on HANA Engineering

- Design and develop ABAP solutions optimized for SAP HANA using pushdown principles.
- Build efficient data models and access patterns using CDS views, associations, annotations, and authorization concepts.
- Implement performance-critical logic using AMDP / SQLScript where appropriate.

Modern ABAP Development

- Develop modular, testable, and maintainable ABAP code aligned with clean architecture practices.
- Build services and APIs using modern paradigms such as OData/service exposure patterns.
- Apply secure coding standards and authorization checks.

Data Modeling & Reporting

- Model enterprise business entities using CDS semantics.
- Design reusable data artifacts for UI, integrations, analytics, and AI retrieval layers.
- Ensure consistent business definitions and lineage-friendly structures.

AI Native SAP Capabilities

- Build AI-enabled SAP experiences integrating ABAP services with LLM capabilities.
- Implement tool-calling orchestration through controlled APIs.
- Build retrieval-grounded outputs over governed SAP data and documentation.
- Implement prompts/templates, tool schemas, and context assembly strategies.
- Apply deterministic fallbacks and enterprise safety boundaries.

Quality Engineering & Evaluation

- Build automated unit, integration, and contract tests for ABAP services and data artifacts.
- Establish evaluation frameworks for AI behaviors using golden datasets and scenario-based tests.




- Implement guardrails such as authorization-aware context filtering, redaction rules, action confirmations, and audit logs.

Observability & Operations

- Implement logs, metrics, and traces for production support and root-cause analysis.
- Design robust error handling including retries, idempotency, correlation IDs, and secure failure modes.
- Support incident response and continuously improve solutions.

Integration & End-to-End Delivery

- Integrate ABAP on HANA services with SAP and non-SAP ecosystems.
- Collaborate with UX, integration, data, and platform teams.
- Prototype and evolve solutions into scalable production systems with security and compliance.

Must Have Skills
- SAP ABAP Development for HANA
- Strong hands-on expertise in ABAP Development on HANA.
- Performance tuning, pushdown, and efficient SQL access patterns.
- Proficiency with CDS Views and modern data modeling.
- Experience with AMDP / SQLScript.
- Solid software engineering practices, testing mindset, CI/CD orientation, and production readiness.
- AI-native build capability including:

- LLM integration

- Retrieval grounding

- Tool orchestration

- Evaluation loops

- AI safety boundaries

Good to Have Skills
- OData/service design patterns.
- API lifecycle management and contract-first development.
- Experience integrating SAP backends with cloud runtimes and enterprise integration platforms.
- Performance benchmarking and load testing.
- Query-plan driven tuning.
- SAP security, authorizations, and compliance knowledge.

What This Role Does Not Center On
- Training or fine-tuning foundation models from scratch.
- AI-assisted-only development. The role focuses on building and owning AI behaviors including grounding, evaluation, guardrails, and observability as part of SAP solution delivery.

Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience is required.
- Hands-on experience with SAP ABAP Development for HANA.
- Experience with AI-native / Agentic AI capabilities as mentioned above.

Education
- 15 years of full-time education is required.
