Position: Purchase Manager

Location: Verna, Goa

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Purchase Manager to manage procurement activities, supplier relationships, cost optimization, inventory planning, and timely availability of raw materials and other requirements for manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Procurement & Vendor Management

- Plan and execute procurement of raw materials, consumables, machinery, spares, and other materials.
- Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable vendors and suppliers.
- Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, and credit periods.
- Maintain strong supplier relationships and ensure timely material delivery.

2. Cost Control & Negotiation

- Achieve cost savings through effective price negotiation and vendor comparison.
- Obtain and evaluate quotations based on price, quality, delivery, and payment terms.
- Monitor market trends and identify alternative suppliers to reduce procurement costs.

3. Inventory & Material Planning

- Coordinate with Production, Stores, Planning, and Quality departments for material requirements.
- Ensure optimum inventory levels and prevent stockouts and excess inventory.
- Monitor pending purchase orders and expedite delayed deliveries.

4. Purchase Order & Documentation

- Prepare, review, and approve purchase orders as per company policy and authorization limits.
- Maintain accurate records of quotations, purchase orders, supplier agreements, and invoices.




- Ensure compliance with procurement procedures and internal controls.

5. Supplier Quality & Performance

- Coordinate with the Quality Department to resolve material quality issues.
- Monitor supplier performance based on cost, quality, delivery, and service.
- Conduct periodic vendor evaluations and take corrective action where required.

6. Team Management & Reporting

- Lead and guide the purchase team to achieve departmental targets.
- Prepare MIS reports on procurement costs, savings, pending orders, and supplier performance.
- Coordinate with Accounts for invoice verification, payment follow-ups, and supplier reconciliation.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Purchase cost savings achieved through negotiation.
- On-time material delivery percentage.
- Reduction in procurement costs and emergency purchases.
- Inventory availability and stockout reduction.
- Supplier quality and rejection rate.
- Purchase order processing turnaround time.
- Compliance with procurement procedures and budgets.

Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Commerce, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in purchase/procurement, preferably in a manufacturing industry.
- Strong negotiation, vendor development, cost analysis, and team management skills.
- Working knowledge of ERP/SAP systems and MS Excel.
- Positive communication, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
