Backed by a robust ecosystem of in-house capabilities and captive control over advanced machining and fabrication facilities, we operate across CNC, VMC, deep-hole drilling, honing, turn-milling, heavy fabrication, and precision inspection systems.

Position Overview: We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Purchase & Stores / Material Controller to manage end-to-end procurement, inventory control, stores operations, and supplier coordination for our engineering and precision manufacturing activities. The role will be responsible for sourcing raw materials, developing and managing suppliers, procuring machining tools and subcontracting services, maintaining material traceability, and ensuring timely material availability for production. The ideal candidate should have experience in engineering procurement, inventory management, vendor coordination, and ERP-based material tracking.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

1. Procurement & Vendor Management

- Identify, evaluate, and develop suppliers for raw materials, engineering components, cutting tools, fixtures, and manufacturing consumables.
- Obtain and compare supplier quotations based on pricing, quality, delivery timelines, and technical specifications.
- Negotiate commercial terms, pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules to optimize procurement costs.
- Manage procurement of subcontracting services, including machining, heat treatment, surface coating, and other specialized manufacturing processes.
- Issue purchase orders (POs), track order status, and ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
- Develop and maintain solid relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Monitor supplier performance in terms of quality, delivery, cost, and responsiveness.

2. Raw Material Procurement & Traceability

- Procure raw materials as per engineering drawings, specifications, production plans, and customer requirements.
- Verify material grades, specifications, dimensions, and required certifications before acceptance.
- Ensure availability and verification of Material Test Certificates (MTCs) and other relevant material documentation.
- Maintain complete heat number, batch, lot, and material traceability throughout the procurement and storage process.




- Coordinate with Quality and Production teams to ensure materials meet specified requirements.
- Ensure proper identification, segregation, and storage of materials to prevent mix-ups and traceability gaps.

3. Stores & Inventory Management

- Manage day-to-day stores operations, including material receipt, inspection coordination, storage, issuance, and returns.
- Maintain accurate stock records for raw materials, cutting tools, fixtures, consumables, and other engineering supplies.
- Monitor inventory levels, minimum stock requirements, and reorder points to prevent shortages and excess inventory.
- Ensure proper material identification, labeling, storage, and preservation.
- Track material consumption and maintain records of material movement across departments.
- Conduct periodic physical stock verification and reconcile discrepancies with ERP records.
- Implement effective inventory control practices to minimize material wastage and carrying costs.

4. Material Planning & Production Coordination

- Coordinate with Manufacturing Engineering, Production, and Planning teams to understand material requirements and production schedules.
- Ensure timely procurement and availability of materials, tooling, and consumables to meet production commitments.
- Track pending purchase orders, supplier commitments, and material shortages.
- Proactively identify supply risks and take corrective action to avoid production delays.
- Coordinate the availability of subcontracted components and services within required timelines.
- Maintain visibility of material status and communicate potential delays to relevant stakeholders.

5. Cutting Tools, Fixtures & Consumables Management

- Manage procurement and inventory of cutting tools, tool holders, fixtures, and other machining consumables.
- Monitor consumption patterns and coordinate replenishment based on production requirements.
- Maintain records of tool issuance, returns, and stock availability.
- Coordinate with technical teams to source tools and fixtures that meet manufacturing requirements.
- Identify opportunities to optimize tool procurement costs and reduce unnecessary consumption.

6. ERP & Documentation Management

- Maintain accurate procurement, inventory, and material movement records in ERP systems, preferably Odoo.
- Update purchase orders, goods receipt records, stock transactions, supplier details,



and material traceability information.
- Maintain documentation related to quotations, purchase orders, invoices, MTCs, delivery challans, and supplier performance.
- Ensure data accuracy and timely updates across procurement and stores transactions.
- Prepare reports on inventory levels, pending orders, supplier performance, material shortages, and procurement costs.

7. Cost Optimization & Process Improvement

- Identify cost-saving opportunities through supplier negotiations, alternate sourcing, and improved procurement planning.
- Monitor purchase price variations and maintain comparative records for key materials and consumables.
- Reduce inventory discrepancies, material wastage, and emergency procurement.
- Support process improvements in procurement, stores management, and material tracking.
- Ensure adherence to internal procurement procedures and applicable quality and documentation requirements.

Required Skills & Competencies

- Experience in engineering procurement, purchase management, stores, and inventory control.
- Knowledge of engineering raw materials, material grades, specifications, and MTC verification.
- Understanding of heat number, batch, lot, and material traceability requirements.
- Experience in supplier sourcing, vendor development, quotation comparison, and commercial negotiation.
- Familiarity with CNC machining-related procurement, cutting tools, fixtures, and subcontracting services.
- Strong inventory management and material planning capabilities.
- Experience using ERP systems, preferably Odoo, for procurement and stock management.
- Strong coordination, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Good working knowledge of MS Excel and procurement reporting.

Educational Qualifications & Experience

- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- 4–8 years of relevant experience in procurement, stores management, material control, or engineering supply chain operations.
- Prior experience in precision engineering, CNC machining, fabrication, or manufacturing industries will be preferred.
- Experience managing both procurement and stores operations within a manufacturing setup will be an advantage.
