Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and results-oriented Manager - ETP & Utilities to lead the operation, maintenance, and statutory compliance of Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP), Boilers, Water Softening Plant, and Caustic Recovery Plant. The role is responsible for ensuring uninterrupted utility services, environmental compliance, resource optimization, and efficient operation of all utility infrastructure supporting textile processing operations.

Key Responsibilities

Environmental & ETP Management

- Ensure productive and uninterrupted operation of the Effluent Treatment Plant across all shifts.
- Monitor ETP performance parameters including pH, COD, BOD, TDS, MLSS, and Chlorine levels.
- Ensure treated effluent quality consistently meets TNPCB and statutory discharge norms.
- Monitor online pollution monitoring systems and ensure data connectivity and compliance reporting.
- Maintain all environmental records, test reports, statutory registers, and audit documentation.
- Liaise with Pollution Control Board officials and coordinate inspections, submissions, and renewals.

Utility Operations Management

- Ensure reliable operation of:

- Boilers

- Water Softening Plant

- Caustic Recovery Plant

- Associated utility infrastructure
- Monitor utility consumption, operating efficiencies, and cost optimization initiatives.
- Ensure uninterrupted supply of steam, soft water, recovered caustic, and treated water to production departments.

Water Softening Plant

- Maintain softened water quality within prescribed hardness limits.
- Ensure periodic regeneration of softener resins.




- Monitor water treatment chemical consumption and optimize operating costs.
- Review daily plant performance records and corrective actions.

Caustic Recovery Plant

- Ensure efficient recovery and reuse of caustic solution from mercerizing operations.
- Monitor concentration levels, recovery efficiencies, process performance, and storage systems.
- Coordinate with production teams to meet process requirements and ensure continuous supply.

Boiler Operations

- Ensure safe and efficient boiler operation.
- Monitor fuel consumption and steam generation efficiency.
- Implement preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
- Maintain statutory records and ensure compliance with Boiler Inspectorate regulations.
- Drive initiatives to improve fuel efficiency and reduce operational costs.

Maintenance & Reliability

- Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules.
- Minimize breakdowns through proactive maintenance practices.
- Monitor utility equipment health and reliability indicators.
- Coordinate with Engineering and Production teams for planned shutdowns and maintenance activities.

Compliance, Safety & Systems

- Ensure adherence to:

- TNPCB Regulations

- Boiler Regulations

- Factory Safety Standards

- IMS / ISO Systems
- Environmental & Sustainability Requirements
- Lead implementation of 5S and housekeeping standards within utility areas.
- Conduct safety inspections, risk assessments, and corrective action follow-ups.
- Support internal, customer, regulatory, and certification audits.

Team Management

- Lead and develop utility operators, technicians, and supervisors.
- Provide technical guidance and training.




- Ensure manpower planning and shift coverage for uninterrupted operations.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

- 100% statutory environmental compliance.
- ETP treated water quality within prescribed norms.
- Utility uptime above 98%.
- Reduction in utility operating costs.
- Boiler fuel efficiency targets achieved.
- Zero major environmental non-compliance incidents.
- Timely completion of preventive maintenance schedules.
- Successful closure of audit observations.
- Improvement in water recycling and recovery efficiency.

Candidate Profile

Qualification

- B.E./B.Tech. in Chemical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Environmental Engineering.
- Diploma candidates with significant relevant experience may also be considered.

Experience

- 10-15 years of experience in Utilities and ETP Operations.
- Minimum 5 years in a managerial role within Textile Processing, Dyeing House.
- Experience handling ETP, Boiler, Water Treatment, and Utility Systems is mandatory.
