Role: Manager / Assistant Manager — Membership & Operations (Full-time)

Reports to: Director, IPSO

Job Location: IPSO Office, Begumpet, Hyderabad (On-site)

Experience: 5–8 years

Level: Assistant Manager or Manager (title and grade to match the candidate)

Function: Membership, Operations, Events

About IPSO

IPSO is the national, not-for-profit industry body representing India’s Contract Research, Development and Manufacturing Organisation (CRDMO) sector. Founded by India’s leading CRDMO companies, it works on policy advocacy, ecosystem development, talent, and global engagement to help make India the preferred global destination for contract research, development, and manufacturing.

The Secretariat is being built now. This is an early, foundational role: you will work directly with the Director, as well as the Co-Presidents and member companies. It suits someone who wants ownership, variety, and the chance to help build an institution from the ground up.

The role in one line To be the Secretariat’s core execution engine — running membership, operations, and events smoothly, and supporting the policy and communications work.

Key responsibilities

1. Membership management (primary)

- Manage the full membership lifecycle: enquiries, applications, onboarding, renewals, and records;
- Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for member companies and their representatives;
- Maintain the register of members, membership files, and the membership database;
- Coordinate committees and working groups — scheduling, papers, minutes, and follow-up actions;
- Track member engagement and help keep members active and satisfied.

2. Operations & administration (primary)

- Run the day-to-day operations of the Secretariat office; Coordinate with vendors and support partners;
- Maintain records, registers, and the compliance calendar, supporting the Director on governance filings;
- Help prepare budgets, track expenses, and support financial administration with the accounts partner;
- Organise meetings of the Executive Committee and General Body, including notices, agendas, and minutes.

3. Events & stakeholder engagement

- Plan and execute IPSO events — roundtables, summits, member meets, and delegations — end to end;
- Manage logistics, venues, invitations, speakers, and on-the-day coordination;
- Support engagement with government, industry, academia, and ecosystem partners.

4. Policy & communications support (supporting, with room to grow)

- Coordinate member consultations and surveys, and help compile responses into clear summaries;
- Draft and edit letters, notes, member communications, newsletters, and website content;
- Support the preparation of policy submissions, position papers, and reports led by the Director, Co-Presidents, and members;
- Keep track of relevant sector, regulatory, and policy developments.

Who we are looking for

Essential

- 5–8 years of relevant work experience;
- A proven ability to manage many moving parts, many stakeholders, and deadlines without dropping things;
- Able to draft clear letters, minutes, notes, and member communications with little supervision;

- Event management experience: having planned and run professional events or meetings end to end;
- Good interpersonal skills and executive presence — comfortable dealing with senior industry leaders;
- Comfort with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and everyday digital tools.

Highly preferred (any one of these makes a candidate stand out)

- Industry-body / trade-association experience — the strongest fit. Prior work at industry associations;
- Membership-organisation experience of any kind (professional bodies, chambers, councils) and Incubators;
- A pharma / life-sciences connection: either direct experience in a pharma, biotech, CRDMO company or Pharma media, close exposure to the sector will be an advantage;

Personal qualities

- Self-starter who takes ownership and works well with little supervision;
- Organised, reliable, and detail-oriented;
- Discreet and trustworthy with confidential member information;
- Collaborative, service-minded, and comfortable in a small, hands-on team;
- Willing to travel and to take on a wide, evolving remit as IPSO grows.

Qualifications

- Any Graduate degree required with relevant experience;

What the role offers

- A rare chance to help build a national industry body from its earliest days;
- Direct exposure to the leadership of India’s top CRDMO companies and to national policy work;
- A broad, wide-ranging remit with real ownership and visible impact; Room to grow as the Secretariat expands.
