Tips:-Own the mechanical, utility and equipment health of the plant supporting machine erection and commissioning during setup, and thereafter delivering maximum machine availability with minimum breakdown. Maintenance must be run as a planned system with records and schedules, not as a response to failure.
Responsibilities:-
1. • Maintain mixers, calenders, curing presses and belt handling equipment. Must have maintained Heavy process / rubber processing machinery specifically, not general engineering equipment. • Grinding equipment knowledge
2. Maintain and set the grinding equipment used for belt surface finishing; hold surface accuracy and thickness tolerance within specification. • Lathe knowledge: Operate and maintain lathe and machining equipment for in-house spares, tooling, shaft and roller work.
3. • Keeping inventory: Maintain a critical spares inventory with defined minimum levels, so that production is never stopped waiting for a single part.
4. • Scheduling preventive maintenance: Build and run the preventive maintenance schedule machine by machine, and publish schedule adherence every month. • Maintenance of utilities: Own utilities — boilers, compressors, chillers, cooling towers, water systems and electrical distribution as applicable to the plant.
5. • Inventory checks: Conduct periodic physical verification of spares and consumables against records, and reconcile differences. • PLC, CNC and SCADA experience [Must have]
6. Work with PLC-controlled machines, CNC equipment and SCADA or data acquisition systems; coordinate with vendors on controls and instrumentation faults and brief them accurately. • Creating SOPs for periodic preventive maintenance:
Write maintenance SOPs and checklists for each machine at each frequency — daily, weekly, monthly, annual.
7. • Coordinating with inventory / stores: Work with stores on spares indenting, receipt verification, issue discipline and reorder levels. • Creating a maintenance book: Build and maintain a machine history record for every machine — breakdowns, causes, actions taken, spares consumed and downtime.
8. • Cross-functional coordination: Coordinate with production on shutdown windows, with stores on spares, and with vendors on warranty, AMC and service visits. • Creating a training calendar: Train operators on basic machine care, protected operation and first-level fault identification, on a planned calendar.
9. • CAPA: Root-cause repeat breakdowns and close them permanently, rather than repairing the same failure repeatedly. • Maintenance records and forward planning: Maintain complete maintenance records and prepare the annual maintenance, spares and equipment capex plan.
10. • Machine drawings (CAD): Maintain machine drawings, layouts and manuals in an indexed, retrievable form; read and mark up CAD drawings competently.
Qualifications:-
BE / B.Tech – Mechanical or Electrical, with a rubber industry background. Engineering degree essential
Knowledge of electronics [Must have]: Understands drives, sensors, panels and control circuits sufficiently to diagnose a fault and to brief a vendor precisely. • Mechanical engineering [Must have]: Strong fundamentals — alignment, bearings, gearboxes, drives, hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Rubber equipment knowledge advantage
: Knows the specific wear patterns, failure modes and maintenance requirements
