Location: India Home based / Remote with frequent factory travel

Compensation: USD $1,500$2,000/month, depending on experience, plus performance bonus and business travel reimbursement A U.S.-based shelving brand is looking for an experienced Sourcing & Supplier Development Manager in India to develop qualified manufacturers for heavy-duty steel shelving and related fabricated steel products.

Responsibilities

- Identify, visit and qualify reliable steel fabrication and shelving manufacturers throughout India.
- Evaluate factory equipment, manufacturing capability, capacity, quality systems and management.
- Develop suppliers for steel sourcing, roll forming, punching, welding, wire decking, powder coating and packaging.
- Negotiate FOB pricing, tooling cost, MOQ, lead time and payment terms.
- Verify steel sources, mill certificates and material traceability.
- Coordinate samples, tooling, trial production and production follow-up.
- Conduct basic factory/product inspections and follow corrective actions.
- Prepare clear sourcing, factory visit and quality reports for U.S. management.

Qualifications

- 7+ years of sourcing,



procurement or supplier-development experience.
- Strong background in steel fabrication, sheet metal, shelving/racking, metal furniture, automotive components or similar manufacturing.
- Valuable understanding of roll forming, punching, welding and powder coating.
- Proven experience finding and developing new factories, not just managing existing suppliers.
- Able to read basic engineering drawings and evaluate product quality.
- Experience with U.S./European export manufacturing preferred.
- Good English communication and reporting skills.
- Willing to travel frequently throughout India.
- Independent, hands-on, reliable and high integrity.

Candidates with primarily office purchasing or PO administration experience, without hands-on factory sourcing experience, will not be considered.
